Prompts
July is going to be wet and wild, villagers. Keep an eye to the sky and hold onto your hats!
- SAVING FACE - Look at you, trying to save that goat or dog or ZALPACA that's gotten stranded in a particularly nasty storm! You're a regular hero, trudging up that cliffside or swiming across that creek! Unfortunately, the sky didn't get the memo about your heroics, and it's just opened up even more. Finishing this job just got a heck of a lot worse. Good thing someone else just showed up to help both you and your animal pal. You hope. It's possible they're just there to laugh at you.
- PANTS ON FIRE - You know what's great? When the storm breaks, the skies start to clear and everything looks sunny again. You know what's not? When the weather pushes the LYING MIST down from the mountainside while you're out trying to clean up. Hope you don't have any whoppers you're trying to keep secret!
- SINK OR SWIM - The days when it's not storming are just beautiful, and the village river is running high. There are spots out of the current that are perfect for a cool dip or lounging on the shore, but take care you don't go out too far and get swept away. Oh, and watch out for the RAINBOW CRABS, those claws are sharp.
- WILDCARD - Choose your own adventure. Maybe play powers roulette.
Texts
All characters are fitted with a smart watch-like device on their left wrist, which they can use to send text messages to other villagers.

- No video or voice, text only
- No usernames, everyone is listed by their name
Please list your CHARACTER NAME, CANON & PROMPT in your SUBJECT LINE.
Vergil Sparda || DMC: Devil May Cry
Vergil had been building himself a new life here. Almost certain his beloved brother had murdered him back home for only doing what was fit of creatures of their stature. This place was not his home, just as dangerous but in different ways. It was going to take some getting used to, this whole situation of being like other people. A way he hadn't felt since he learned the truth of the lies he was fed as a child.
It was nice at first but, he wasn't made for this kind of life. He had been to pampered, even in battle he didn't have to rough it. Technical support and battle plans, that was where he shined. Not manual labor and exploration. He had little choice though and tried to again play the happy helpful person...while pushing the anger and betrayal of his brother and closest friend away. Another life another time. He had nearly made it back when the mists passed through, a strange feeling overcoming the silver haired young man, as his hand clutched his chest where Dante had stabbed him, where he ached at times with phantom pains.
"Why didn't you just listen to me." he growled out so unlike the person he had been portraying, still clutching his chest. "We could have ruled together." Opps.

I know I have asked, and everyone has. Are we sure we can't get home?
[ He hated how little he could get on each message, and the lack of usernames. It was hard to hide with ones name on display. ]
Or at least somewhere with some better technology?

2 - Liar liar, pants on fire
He was shirtless, the black tattoo of a dragon marking his chest despite the fact that his connection with Shao-Lao had been severed upon his arrival. He was carrying a large stack of wood over to the inn when the mist clouded his vision.
"Fuck." He muttered into the air as he slowed his steps. Another voice caught his attention and he turned towards its source. At first it was only a shadow of a figure and then it turned into a man. "Hey."
Danny had heard what Vergil said but it hadn't made a lot of sense. "You okay?" He didn't seem okay. In fact, neither did Danny but Danny didn't make a habit of lying to other people. He only lied to himself.
no subject
His hand was still clutched to his chest with the phantom pains. The wound had healed before he even phased away from Dante and Kat but it ached whenever he thought of them. Of the betrayal, of everything, and the mist he had walked through had clearly done something. The platinum haired young man rested an arm against a tree, his hair was dirty and with the color it showed how dirty it was. He hated it so much.
"No, no I'm not okay. I'll never be okay so long as I am trapped here." Normally he'd lie and say he was fine and smile but something was wrong. He even blinked a bit through the ghostly pain at the fact he said it out loud. "Something is wrong...again."
no subject
He placed a hand on Vergil's shoulder in an attempt to steady him. "Yeah. I feel it too. You hurt?" He looked at the mans chest, expecting to see a wound or something that might cause him pain except that he was fine. "Nothing looks wrong."
Danny looked up at the man with a quizzical uncertain stare.
no subject
Vergil waved his other hand, refusing to move the other. "No, it's an old injury...it just hurts sometimes." He explained, it wasn't that old and he couldn't explain why it hurt. Maybe it was psychosomatic. "Nothing is wrong... nothing I know how to explain without hours of backstory that I don't wish to share." He didn't like being so open and yet it flowed free just speaking his heart.
"A little pain is fine. Just shows we are alive, right?" He could almost hear Dante's quip in his head, that was the last thing he wanted to hear.
no subject
"Old or not. Something is wrong. Let's get you inside where you can sit for a bit." He'll come back for the wood.
"And you don't need to say more." Danny didn't know what was going on but something was causing Vergil to be uncomfortable and he had a few theories. They might not be right but they rattled around in his head as they attempted to form coherency.
no subject
"Honestly, it will be fine. I find it comes and goes and other's need more attention than I do." He tried to sound elegant, before adding as he found it hard to lie. "It is probably just emotional... stress I mean." He should have paid more attention to human ailments after all. Was it guilty conscience?
He stopped fighting it after a moment, and let Danny help him, his hand remained pressed firm over where his heart was. "I never caught your name..."
4 - Wildcard - Timejump
She was alone. Dante wasn't here, she'd looked for him first, and she didn't think that Vergil would come and save her this time.
It wasn't so bad. Everyone she'd met had been nice and the community worked together in order to survive. She felt disconnected from her abilities as a medium but then Limbo was destroyed, she wouldn't be able to walk between the two worlds anymore.
That was what she reasoned with herself anyway.
She stepped towards the foyer of the inn as she pulled a hood over her head. Clothes were in short supply but Kat had found a light jacket to wear over her scrubs and shield her face from view. She had offered to help in the gardens today though she didn't know a whole lot about gardening.
Her eyes landed on a familiar figure sipping tea near the fire place and Kat froze. It couldn't be...
She walked over to him and without saying a word, she slapped him across the face.
Vergil.
no subject
She stopped his brother, his beloved brother from murdering him. Death would have been better than dwelling on the look on Dante's face, the sound of her pleading voice. Was it so bad that he wanted to rule? He would have been nicer than Mundus by far.
Tea was not something he got to enjoy often her, he had loved it so much back home. It was better than the lobotomy in a can they all used to drink before their eyes were opened. It was hot and the work never seems to end. He had so much he wanted to learn but also so much he still did not understand. So far he had managed to blend himself into the community. At least until out of no where a hand collided with his face. He nearly dropped the tea, instead it splashed from the cup over his hand burning the flesh. "Shit!" He so rarely cursed, unlike Dante. And pain was a joke for him in their world but here the burn was enough to really smart.
His eyes shifted ready to let go of his nice guy act and snap when he saw who it was and his blue eyes went as wide as they could. The pain forgotten for now. One hand moved from the cup, the burned one moving to his cheek as he stared at her.
"Kat?" Was Dante there? Oh, fuck baskets.
no subject
The memory he had stolen from her had been restored; Kat didn't know how it had happened, only that something had cleared her mind and had returned what was taken from her. There were a lot of reasons to be angry at Vergil but knowing he had made her forget that kiss... that felt worse than all of them. He'd chosen to forget her and she hadn't gotten a choice.
What kind of king would that make him?
"Why did you do it?" Her voice was soft, she didn't want to cause a scene in the middle of the inn, despite the fact that she'd already slapped him. "Why did you make me forget?"
no subject
He would argue it made him a king willing to even give up his own happiness to see the future met, but somehow that also didn't seem right.
"What ever do you mean?" He started then she finished, in her quiet tone, as stood up, taking the tea cup up again. "Come, lets walk if you must know. People listen here." He spoke before taking a drink of the tea. He's not wasting it. "And honestly, Kat, did you really want to remember that now after all we have been through, I did you a service spiriting it away." He's so nice.
no subject
She looked down at her hands and then turned away so they could head outside to talk. She didn't agree with him. That memory had been happy and even if that was all they had, she would have cherished it. Kat had thought that she'd stayed with Vergil because he had saved her life but there was always more to it than that. She hadn't understood what it was but now she knew.
Kat waited until they were outside before turning towards Vergil. "Do you really think that?"
no subject
Happy for her, a wrench in the cogs for him. He couldn't afford to fall in love, much less with a human... she had been everything in those few days, and he didn't fully want to give her up... so, he kept her close. His memory had returned fairly quickly but by then Dante was already involved. Maybe he was jealous then, he liked to think he was above that.
Walking silently out the door, he looked over the burn on his hand a second it already felt better but not like normal. He hated being human. "Yes, why wouldn't I? We had a job to do, Kat. There was no time for such things. And more so, what if one of us had died? Would you truly want that pain in your heart?" He offered before adding. "Aside from that, if you remembered would you and Dante have truly come together as you surely have?" Jealous much? Naaah.

"It's usually better if I'm on the complete opposite side of anyone in charge."
no subject
"No... no. I didn't mean you." He looked confused at the man, He had seen Adrian in passing but had never tried to speak to him. "Not that anything is wrong with you. I meant my brother, he is not here of course. And why would you say that? Power is everything, what are we without power?"
no subject
He thinks the further away from the Ivashkov legacy he can get, the better.
"Why? Looking to take over our little village?"
no subject
Vergil needed to take a page from Adrian's book.
"Not at all, my only grab for power is in my own world. I want to save my people. Not see them enslaved once more." He still firmly believed he would have been a better king.

"Unless you count physical strength. Then there's some advantages and disadvantages. But everything I had that used to even the playing field? Gone."

Liar
Giving him a wary look, Peggy looks at him and tries to see if he's speaking to someone behind her, but there's no one there, so it must be here. Yes? "I don't think anyone is ruling here," she offers, to try and make him feel better, perhaps? "It does seem more like a communal task."
