Prompts
- SNOW BLIND - It's snowing, a lot, and pristine landscape though it might create, it also brings plenty of problems, especially when you live in an Edwardian-style village with a serious lack of snow shovels. It's currently blizzard conditions and visibility is nil — Maybe you gave in and ducked into the nearest house for temporary shelter, and discover someone else had the same idea (or just lives there, oops). Maybe you're stubborn enough to still be out in it, struggling against the wind and snow. Or maybe you've tromped into the South Village Inn like a human popsicle, and are just hoping you don't lose any fingers before you make it to the fireplace.
- JUMPED-UP - Winter's here, which means it's the perfect time for an expedition to warmer, southern climes. You've joined a group following the river all the way down to the far southern beach, for fun and for science. On this latest break in your journey, you've spotted a large, jewel-colored feather and picked it up, maybe as a specimen to bring back or just a feather for your cap. Turns out it's an archaeopteryx feather, and you're now, well... let's call it a little gravity-challenged. Not a bad benefit once you figure out how to control it.
- COLD CALL - The snow has slacked off, leaving behind a winter wonderland. Sure, there's plenty to do, but after being cooped up inside for days, most people won't blame you for a morale-booster — That is, unless your way of starting a snowball fight is to pop up and throw them at unsuspecting passers-by. Making a snow man or snow angels might come with a little less retribution, but you do you.
- WILDCARD - Choose your own adventure. Maybe play powers roulette.

Laguna Loire | Final Fantasy 8
No one would ever say that Laguna Loire was the pinnacle of maturity. Oh, he had his moments, as did everyone, but he could just as easily act like a child when confronted with certain things like freshly fallen snow.
So, today, at least for a few hours, Laguna's priority was accomplishing two things: darting around from one hiding place to another while pelting snowballs at unsuspecting passersby, and building snowmen and making snow angels. Was it silly? You bet.
But it was also a lot of fun, especially when he could convince those passing by to join in. Some didn't take so kindly to having wet snow chucked at them, however. Still, that didn't stop Laguna from peering around the corner, snowball in hand, poised and ready to throw.
Jumped Up
"Hey!? I'm flying!" Those were the first words that came out of Laguna's mouth after he spotted the curious-looking feather and, driven by curiosity, touched it. "Well, I guess this isn't exactly flying, but I'm off the ground and everything!"
The only downside to this was that Laguna was currently not right-side-up. "Okay. I think I can fix this." Yes, the running monologue was important. He knew he was going to look absolutely ridiculous, but it wouldn't have been the first time, so he started pinwheeling his arms, hoping the inertia would set him right. And, well, it took some effort, but he achieved his goal.
Cue a jubilant fist-pump and a wide grin. "Okay, now what?"
Jumped Up
"Well, you could come down before you fly away," Nida called up to Laguna, biting his lip nervously. What he'd give for a nice Float spell right now. He was certain that it would reverse this condition.
Why exactly did Selphie look up to this guy? Give Nida someone rational like Kiros or Ward any day when dealing with the older generation.

"Yeah, I really should do that." The only problem was, Laguna hadn't yet figured out the best way to achieve that. "I really have no idea how birds take off and land and make it look so easy."
Because that's the sticking point here: Laguna didn't get in the air by himself. He just touched the feather, and the next thing he knew, gravity didn't seem to apply to him. That was what made getting down difficult. And that Float spell really would go a long way right about now.
As for Kiros and Ward, Laguna would gladly have them too. Maybe one or both of them would have a fix for this problem.

He resolved not to laugh, because frankly, Laguna had spared him being the graceless one up there. Nida had also seen the feather, and luckily hadn't moved for it first. Still, he moved away from the tree he had been resting under and swung his pack down from his shoulder. This would be easier if he had taken the time to make a full staff like he'd intended, but no use longing for what he didn't have. Instead he pulled one of the likelier sticks he had scooped up and tossed into his bag on the walk and a length of cord. Tie one around the other and... Tada! Not a lasso, but it should still serve.
"Any good at playing catch, Mister President?"
Cold Call
She was walking around minding her own business when she got pelted by a snowball. She gasped and looked around to see who did it. Definitely not Squall, she could never imagine him playing this much, but she had other friends who would make mischief. Instead she peered and spotted .... "President Loire?" Rinoa was clearly surprised, putting her hands on her hips. She didn't know him that well, but after a few moments she laughed. He was so intimidating back when things were going so wrong in her life, but if he threw snowballs? Maybe he wasn't that scary. "What are you, ten years old?" She teased.
no subject
"Maybe I am secretly ten. Maybe I just look like I should be in an office or something, not out here throwing snowballs." And speaking of snowballs, he let loose with another one. Scary? Him? Never.
no subject
She dodged the snowball and smiled at him, and for a moment anyone who ever met Julia Heartilly would see exactly how much her daughter resembled her. "You do look like you should be in an office. Or a big meeting room!" With all the other important people. But, well, who was she to argue with a president? She reached down to make a snowball and threw it at him, immediately moving after it was in the air to start making more. Her speed was an advantage for sure!
Cold Call
So rather than entertain himself, Squall was out to bring back more supplies--wood for the fire, at least, and meat if he was successful.
He was so intent on his goal that he only dodged the snowball at the last second. Narrowing his eyes, he huffed when he saw who it was. Laguna. His father. He shouldn't be surprised. And the fact that it was his father made Squall's feathers ruffle all the more.
"...Having fun?"
