Happy anniversary, villagers! Buckle up!
- HEAT WAVE - Poor you. All you were trying to do was get yourself a little something to eat from the kitchen at the inn. Maybe you cooked it up yourself (The inn does, after all, have an electric stove — FANCY!), or maybe you just grabbed some leftovers. By accident or on purpose, you ended up with way more RED SALT in there than you maybe should have, and this is no ordinary seasoning. Whether you like things eye-wateringly spicy or not, it's August, you're sweating buckets, and it's only getting worse.
- SKUNK DRUNK - Isn't that just the way? You're out and about, minding your own business, and you get sprayed by a BROWN SKUNK. The good news? It doesn't stink like a normal skunk. The also possibly good news, depending on who you ask? You're now in for about 5 hours of being very, very friendly. (Just remember to keep the test drive PG!)
- BRAIN CANDY - Whether you made it to the anniversary party or not, you've gotten your hands on a piece of leftover candy from the big bash. Careful, though, these treats are more than meets the eye: Whatever COLOR it was, you've now taken on the associated personality traits. (Not the power, just the traits.) At least it only lasts 10 minutes.
- WILDCARD - Choose your own adventure. Maybe play powers roulette.
Texts
All characters are fitted with a smart watch-like device on their left wrist, which they can use to send text messages to other villagers.
- Texts may only be 140 characters long
- No video or voice, text only
- Display names may be changed by characters on the fly, but anyone can tap to see someone's real full name
Please list your CHARACTER NAME, CANON & PROMPT in your SUBJECT LINE.

The clothes I have on is the best I have, aside from the farming pants. And I will be fine with these boots. I have managed more in less functional gear. If you are willing, I will prove more than able.
no subject
This way then.
[The forest is deep, old. He's been exploring it for days since first arriving. Looking through moss and lichen and identifying different things for when he needs them. Or when others need them. If he can make himself useful perhaps they'll be more accepting.
It's humbling.
Perhaps in a good way though as he stops before a bank of mossy green leaves and a small running brook.]
Afraid to get wet?
no subject
He nodded then, pushing his long hair back out of his way.]
Not at all, water won't be a problem, lead the way, Alex.
handwaving some tiny thiings...?
They've been at this for a bit before he points at a patch of mushrooms.]
The thing not a lot of people appreciate is how the plant kingdom fights back. It's subtle. Most people see those and think mushroom, I can eat that right? Except the edges are frilled. It'll poison you. Plants are subtle fighters, in it for the long haul as opposed to the red kingdom, claws and fangs and quick fights. They're no less dangerous however.
[he might sound a little too into that to be honest.]
There are a number of plants that will fight back if eaten. That's why it's important to identify things correctly. And respect them.
[Says the big plant...person.]
Human beings don't respect plants enough.
<3 always good!
The mushrooms caught his attention, the dreck hated them, but Asch rather liked them. Maybe it was a bit of spite, but mostly it was how good they could be. ]
I had always wondered which would be poisonous. Thank you. [ Not that he needed to poison anyone, not yet. Who knew what the future holds. ] Do you call it the red kingdom because you are made of plants?
[ The red head asked as he looked over the mushrooms in questions.]
Tch, humans respect nothing, not even themselves.
Re: <3 always good!
[These are facts. Even if he was human at one point, he's no longer a part of that. Entirely at least. All he can do is be a good example.]
The red kingdom is the animal kingdom. Flesh kingdom. Humans and animals. Then there's mycos, the gray, fungus, and bacteria.
[He's holding something back and it might be obvious. Talking about the death leads to Abby and her role in the work they both do.]
They...exist here. I think. They must.
no subject
I am not sure what most of that is, but I would like to learn. Fungus is the only word I know, though I would assume the grey is something unpleasant? [ He ran a hand through his hair before adding.] This world is very different from my own. Everything in my world comes from fonons. Though, aren't mushrooms fungi?
[ He looked up to the other.] The other kingdoms or something else?
no subject
[He considers.] The gray is fungus. Also known as mycos. I-
[He looks at him.] I'm disconnected from them.
[He sits, staring at the plants they've collected with a look of fury, of frustration.]
In my world I was...the avatar for the green. I kept it safe. Coming here has...left me disconnected. Like losing all five of your senses.
[He waves a hand.] I don't want to feel sorry for myself. If you want to learn, I can and will teach you. Consequently I want to know about you. What's a fonon?
no subject
[ He nodded as he takes a seat next to him. Listening and looking at the plants of and on as the other spoke.]
Mycos... [ He repeated committing it to memory.] I assumed you had some connection to the plants, given how you look and the way you speak.
[ Asch looked from his boots on out at the vast green around them. ]
Your not the only one, my abilities are gone as well, it is like something stripped away that can't be replaced. [ he couldn't hear his dreck of a replica's voice in his head anymore.] I don't feel sorry for you, I feel something like it for all of us though. Being pulled from our homes and lives to this place, it is unsettling.
[ He reached out then running his hand over the grass around them.] I beleive people here call them elements, but take the earth and plant life, that is the second fonon. There are seven fonons, darkness, earth, wind, water, fire, light and the seventh, sound.
[ he explained with a slight shrug of his shoulders before looking upto the tree tops.]
no subject
He shakes his head at the "I'm not sorry" comment but ignores it.]
Without me, the green is defenseless. The plants are defenseless. To say I'm concerned is an...understatement.
I am sorry for what has happened to you.
no subject
[ He spoke, it was actually kind of sad, maybe his would would have been better if they had someone who just protected the plant life. The miasma might not have been so bad.]
Tch, on the list of things that has happened to me, losing my power is not even an issue. Fonic ability is simply a short cut.
[ He was bothered, but he tried not to show it. He was more bothered by the lack of pain, he was so used to the pain that it being gone felt wrong. Like he paid a price that he doesn't know.]
Well, maybe you can protect the green of this world now.
no subject
He doesn't bat an eye.]
I have no connect to the green here. I've been cut off. Whoever did this has seperated me from it and after everything I gave up to be here, to be this-!
[He looks the part of a monster for a moment. Eyes wide. He's breathing heavy even if he doesn't need to, staring off into the distance, furious.]
no subject
Asch wasn't put off by the look of the monster, in fact, he was impressed. Still he kept his look to his normal resting bitch face look. ]
Whoever did this has powers beyond all of our wildest dreams, at least I think so. I died, I remember dying and knowing that was it. And yet I am here, my wounds are healed, physically I feel better than ever, but like I said, something is missing. My question is how did they do it? And, my second question, what is it you gave up? Your clearly upset about it.
no subject
When the boy speaks, so calmly, he stares back at him, wild for a moment before he pulls away.]
...What...I gave up?
no subject
Its curious watching him become more monster. He should be concerned given he was unarmed, but something in him whispered that he had no reason to fear.]
Yes, you just said 'after everything I gave up to be here.' I am asking what you mean by that.
no subject
[His eyes narrow and he looks away before sitting calmly. He can't even center himself in the green with this. Instead he's just...stuck.]
I died. Twice. More then that probably, to...to realize I had a purpose. A Job to do. Without a connection to the green I have nothing.
[His hand slams into the water, sending up a spray of water. He's not going ot apologize. Instead just stare at the dirt before...]
I'll continue your lessons but we are done for the day. I'll walk you back to the edge of the forest.
no subject
He pushed himself up, dusting his hands off on the scrub pants before picking a leaf out of his long red hair and nodded.]
That is perfectly acceptable. Thank you for your time and knowledge thus far.
no subject
Walking in silence a good long while Alec stops walking and pauses]
...Oh. An apple tree. There.
[He gestures.] someone must have dropped seeds in the loam here. Do you see?
[It's a relatively large tree and Alec reaches up to pull down a branch with those pale white flowers.] It's blossoming. Remember where this is and you'll have apples.
no subject
He had no problem walking in silence. He also didn't bother with complaining. He had wanted to come out this far and a little water in his boots wasn't such a big price to pay to learn what he had learned so far from the seemingly gentle giant.
When he pauses, Asch looked around him blinking a bit.]
I do enjoy apples. [ He spoke as always trying to keep his emotions pushed down but the idea of them brought the faintest smile forward.] I will find it again, it should only be a few months until harvest, right?
no subject
[He gently moves the branch back.]
When I was a child, my step-father would take me out to the woods and show me things like that. I remember being so angry about the fact that I couldn't have an apple right away.
[He sighs] He told me that patience was essential. Waiting for things would teach me how to be a better man.
I suppose he was right.
[He gestures.] remember where this is. In a few months.
no subject
Yes, I would agree with your father. Though, I have no such tales, I have always known I had to wait for things. As far back as I recall anyway, born into my old station, you are groomed for things that come much later. All good things come to those that wait.
[ He looked back to the tree a moment. As if memorizing where it was. He would honestly get lost in a few months finding it but it would be a treat to find it again. He moved then to follow after Alec again.]
no subject
Your former station?
no subject
yes, my former station, I was born third in line to be king of my home country, and engaged to the princess. Those days are long gone though. [ Yeah, he was engaged to his cousin, but he spoke with a hint of bitterness.]
no subject
[He doesn't blink about him being a child. He's seen so many things through all the lives of the other avatars at this point...
Walking in silence for awhile he looks down at him again. They're close to the edge of the forest.]
Do you miss it?
no subject
At times, maybe, but that life belongs to someone else now, beside's I died in my world, I remember dying before I woke in the fountain here. That life is long out of my reach, and I have been a solider long enough that I could never sit content to be king.
