Prompts
July is going to be wet and wild, villagers. Keep an eye to the sky and hold onto your hats!
- SAVING FACE - Look at you, trying to save that goat or dog or ZALPACA that's gotten stranded in a particularly nasty storm! You're a regular hero, trudging up that cliffside or swiming across that creek! Unfortunately, the sky didn't get the memo about your heroics, and it's just opened up even more. Finishing this job just got a heck of a lot worse. Good thing someone else just showed up to help both you and your animal pal. You hope. It's possible they're just there to laugh at you.
- PANTS ON FIRE - You know what's great? When the storm breaks, the skies start to clear and everything looks sunny again. You know what's not? When the weather pushes the LYING MIST down from the mountainside while you're out trying to clean up. Hope you don't have any whoppers you're trying to keep secret!
- SINK OR SWIM - The days when it's not storming are just beautiful, and the village river is running high. There are spots out of the current that are perfect for a cool dip or lounging on the shore, but take care you don't go out too far and get swept away. Oh, and watch out for the RAINBOW CRABS, those claws are sharp.
- WILDCARD - Choose your own adventure. Maybe play powers roulette.
Texts
All characters are fitted with a smart watch-like device on their left wrist, which they can use to send text messages to other villagers.
- Texts may only be 140 characters long
- No video or voice, text only
- No usernames, everyone is listed by their name
Please list your CHARACTER NAME, CANON & PROMPT in your SUBJECT LINE.

Kat didn't know what she'd do without him.
"Then?" She asked, shifting a bit as if she wanted to look over her shoulder and meet Dante's gaze. Kat didn't know what came next, there were the moments after Vergil had left but there was only a minute or two before she had arrived in the fountain.
"Did something else happen?"
no subject
Blue eyes held hers for a moment before he smirked. "I feel like that's telling the end of the story before you finish the movie. You sure you wanna know? Might make you blush."
He was playing with her - they'd both gone home and collapsed into the first soft, flat surface they could find, passing out for almost 24 hours.
no subject
Dante was nothing like that. She did trust him and the warm glint in his eye brought a light smile to her lips.
"I didn't think you knew how to blush." Kat reached towards him and gently brushed her fingers along his jaw before allowing her arm to rest back against her side. "Are you still worried? About what you had said before?"
I know exactly who you are.
no subject
"I don't," he said with a low laugh, smile getting more genuine at the touch of her fingers against his face. But the question she posed sucked some of the light out of his expression.
"About Vergil? Nah. We're safe here. Or.. were you talking about his STD?" One finger was lifted and pointed at her in question as his face broke out in a grin.
no subject
It was warmer now and Kat knew that she could likely turn over and face Dante without losing that heat but facing Dante had it's own problems; things that Kat tried very hard not to think about. The mission had to come first. That wasn't the case here but the habit had been ingrained into her.
"Try and get a little bit of sleep Dante. Hopefully the rain will let up in a few hours and we can head back to town." Where there was fire, beds and roofs.
no subject
At least his imagination was getting a workout.
"Don't know how restful it's gonna be with you running around in 'em." He curled around her a little, trying to will hormones that were getting stirred up to settle down. "'Course, we could always make body heat in other ways. Passes the time too."
Dante didn't think he'd get anywhere, but he had to try.
no subject
Her fingers reached down and gently slipped between his. Kat made sure to move slowly as she rose his hand to her lips and pressed a kiss at the center of his palm. "You're hurt Dante. I don't want to hurt you more." He had several broken ribs and a back full of bruises. What he was suggesting wasn't practical.
Kat moved his hand back to where it was but left her hand intertwined with his.
She didn't think she'd be able to sleep but she could close her eyes, rest, think of Dante and listen to the rain.
no subject
She was sweet. He didn't deserve her kindness but Dante wasn't one to shy away from something because he didn't 'deserve' it. He wanted it.
Even though it did hurt, Dante curled around Kat and the baby zalpaca a little tighter and closed his eyes.
--
Dante hadn't thought he could go to sleep but even on the ground, he'd gotten comfortable, body taking carefully shallow breaths, peppered with a soft snore that arbitrarily peaked and came with a mutter of intelligible words. The coat was pulled off them as the baby creature got off and started to amble off and out of the cave, eager to go find it's mum, however grateful it might have been for their help in the first place.
no subject
At some point in the middle of the storm she'd turned towards Dante and was curled against his side. The jacket laid on the floor near the entrance of the cave as the young creature rushed off into the day light. Kat rubbed at her eyes, inhaling a sharp breath. She had no idea what time of day it had been or how long they've been asleep but the sun was out now.
She gently shook Dante's shoulder, careful of his wounds and whispered in his ear. "Good Morning Dante. It's time to wake up." They should really get back to town before it started raining again and she wanted to have a better look at his wounds.
no subject
He groaned in protest at the shake, head rolling this way and that before he cracked open an eye at her. "Who says. Did it stop raining?" Craning his neck up to peek at the cave, he groaned again at the light. "You okay?"
Male Brain was confused as to why Waking Up was a thing.
no subject
They had no where to be but staying her would likely prove detrimental to Dante's wounds. He should lay down in a bed and she's sure that there was a free one at the inn.
"It's stopped raining and I'm fine. Your friend is gone." Kat glanced towards the mouth of the cave, already missing the cute ball of pink fluff.
no subject
God she was pretty.
"How long do you think it'll take to get back to town?"
no subject
Another few seconds passed before she carefully shifted and lifted herself from Dante's side. It felt cold without him next to her but her clothes were dry and she could feel the heat of the sun slowly warming the air. It must have been very early in the morning.
"Probably a half hour." Assuming that he didn't have any trouble walking. "We should get you to a bed. Maybe the hospital so I can take a closer look at your ribs."
no subject
"Being human sucks. Healing is shit." Poetry.
Still, he kept moving, pulling himself up onto his feet and struggling to breath smoothly, instead his chest shuddered with the short, small gasps that let him get enough air. One hand was held up and out to Kat, stopping any worried rush that might come at him.
"Think they- they just need- to be wrapped. If all the- the movies I've- seen are - are any hi- hint."
no subject
"Movies only tell you have the story." Which was her way of saying that she should look at it to make sure that they couldn't do more to help him.
"Where does it hurt the most?"
no subject
"My chest. Laces out to my back. I'll be fine." And, to prove it, he headed towards the mouth of the cave, slowly. "So, a hospital, huh?"
Yes, he'd like to be out of this pain please.
no subject
"Yes, there are beds there and light medical supplies. All of the rooms at the inn were full." Which was why Kat didn't live there.
She wondered what Dante would say if he learned at Kat was living with Vergil.

It was unavoidable.
"I'm staying at house 48. Vergil is there to." She wanted Dante to come live with them but she didn't think it'd be up to her. Him and Vergil would need to talk. Even do, she desperately wanted Dante nearby. He was safe and... More important than she could put into words.
no subject
"Yeah, I uh, I saw the house. Him too. Earlier. Yesterday or something." He was trying to be caviler about it, turning his face towards their path and making sure they didn't come to a complete stop.
"Looks like they healed him up, mostly."
no subject
Kat walked at Dante's side for a few steps and then reached forward to take his hand. Her fingers laced through his as she spoke. "This world is different. Vergil can change here and learn. I want to give him a chance." The pain would always be there. Kat could never forget what he had said to her but she wanted to try
"Will you stay with us? There is a third room." She didn't need to say that they had to talk to Vergil about it first, that was obvious, but she wanted Dante there and she wanted him to know how important it would be if he was there... To her.
no subject
Dante had been so excited. And now that he knew he had a twin, not having Vergil felt..wrong.
"I dunno." He screwed up his face, stopping their pace with a gentle tightening of his fingers. "How can you forgive him? After everything he did, everything he was going to do.. You know he was going to take advantage. Why doesn't that matter?"
no subject
"I don't know if I'll ever forgive him but I couldn't leave things how they were. He's your brother and... he saved me from my stepfather. It was probably for his own selfish reasons but I want to save him in return." Even if the demon they were now facing was the one inside of Vergil.
"We should do that for him. Shouldn't we? This world could help him."
no subject
"I thought he was fine right up til the end Kat. I thought we were gonna kick ass together. All three of us." But he screamed at Kat, left her behind for the cops and who knows what else. "He betrayed us. On choice.."
Dante shook his head. "I dunno, Kat. I hate how things were left, that we all got the point that we did but how am I supposed to look at him and not see just that?"
no subject
Kat knew that it was a long shot but she also knew that family shouldn't give up on each other and that's what Vergil was; family.
"It's okay if that's what you see." She'd never ask Dante to change the way he felt. "But I think we should at least give him a chance. Maybe, in time, he can change your mind."
It would be slow but Kat had hope.
"But I, Dante, I want you near." Her eyes locked with his. "For me."
