Prompts
Summer is here, villagers! Sunny skies, warm weather and plenty of weirdness are on the horizon. Don't forget your sunscreen!
- THE MILK FOR FREE - Somehow, someway, you have been wrangled into milking one of the GROFFLES recently rounded up by your fellow villagers. Maybe you felt guilty for not helping, or maybe you owe someone scary money. Point is, it's just you, a bucket, and your green milk-giving friend. Just a tip: Groffles are good-natured, but you probably shouldn't squeeze too hard.
- LIGHTNING ROD - Earlier today, you made your way into the upper foothills — Were you hunting? Maybe just roaming? — and you came into contact with a BLUE LILY. Maybe you thought it was so pretty you've carried it back to the village with you. If your house didn't have electricity before, it definitely does now!
- MEET CUTE - It's a classic: You've gone down into the 6I INN'S dirt-walled root cellar off the kitchen. Maybe you needed supplies or were dropping off some fresh produce. Whatever the case, someone's followed you down for a similar reason... and the door has jammed shut behind them. Seriously, it's not budging. Enjoy getting to know your new best friend in the cozy light of the furnace!
- WILDCARD - Choose your own adventure. Maybe play powers roulette.

Aragorn | Lord of the Rings
It was Aragorn's first real trip out into the mountains after arriving in the village and had no intentions of returning for at least a few days. Perhaps the land would give him the answers he set out to find and if not, he would come back knowing a bit about the odd place that brought him to it. Very much against his will, even though he appeared unnaturally calm about it all.
He arrived back at the settlement at dawn on the fourth day with his bag on his back and a few shrubs sticking out the back of it. He was good with the flora in his own world, yet there were some that he'd collected that he would need to study more. Like the blue and white flower in his hand.
Venturing into the inn, Aragorn couldn't ignore the sudden brightening of the room. Nor could he understand how it was happening. There were no candles, only clear glass balls attached to fixtures that seemed to glow on their own. The Ranger had no idea he was the one making it happen.
Stepping into the dining room, the same thing happened and Aragorn furrowed a brow at the walls as the room brightened again, this time brighter. Over the next 5 minutes, the inn went dark to light as the Ranger put his stuff on one of the tables and tried to ignore the odd phenomenon.
Wild Card
Got something else in mind? Let's do it!

There is no weeping this day, however, but only the still-disconcerting sensation of confusion as the light flickers on, off, on again.
On bare feet she steps quietly down the stairs and pauses at the bottom, a hand laid over the bottom of the bannister as she watches Aragorn's back, muscles moving smoothly beneath his thin shirt as he unpacks.
"You've returned, I think, with more than you bargained on," she softly says, dark hair slipping over her shoulder with the softly curious tilt of her head.

Though that is still quite possible, especially given the odd dress they are expected to wear and the new world they are meant to live in now. The humans here before them were not from any of the lands he'd travelled to or seen on any map of Middle Earth.
If he could wish for anything right then it would be Gandalf's wisdom and counsel, if even only for a short while.
At the sound of Arwen's voice, his hands steady and he straightens, turning slightly at the waist as eyes dart to the two sconces on the wall in his immediate line of sight.
"So, it seems," he replies, looking at her before reaching down and picking up the blue and white flower to show her. "It looks like the lily flowers we have but this is the first kind I have seen that can do that."
Grey eyes once again look at the light which is an oddity all on its own, seems to be holding steady now.

Those last elements of loss were just as much a mystery as his presence here was, among other things he was still adjusting to. So many questions, and so very few answers it would seem. Perhaps in time, with research and effort, he'd see about answering those questions better than he could currently. As for now, well, for now, he'd settle for clothing that suited him more than what he'd been granted upon his arrival here. Thus he kept an eye out for anything that resembled cloth that might be down here as he did his mental tally of the cellar's stores.
While he was at it, he heard the door open and close but refrained from looking to see whom it might be until he'd finished with the count he'd been involved with. When he noted who it was, a slight smile appeared for a moment before he spoke. "You've returned."

But time could not be wasted on waiting, so while the Ranger was out on his excursion, a few plans were made. Aragorn knew he didn't have the same heightened instincts as he did in Middle-earth, yet he feels they will be there awhile. Or, at least he will, despite knowing no one has any control over that particular ability.
It's through asking a few people if they've seen the long brown haired elf that he goes down to the cellar to announce his return and tell Elrond of his plans. And when he stops at the door and is greeted, Aragorn bows his head respectfully.
"I have and I return without any great discovery or answers as to why we were brought here. It remains a mystery."
Aragorn steps forward and the door swings shut behind him. He gives a quick look over his shoulder but pays it no mind beyond that. Not yet, anyway.
"But I assure you, I will not stop until I find a way for us to return to our realm, where we are needed."

Naturally, he understood that his first words would not be welcomed but given what he's observed so far, he had begun to fear that they were far too far from Arda to return to it. Indeed, it was questionable if they were even within Eä itself. Yet, perhaps if they could learn the how and why of their arrival, they might be capable of returning to their world. Thus while he was uncertain, he still held onto that the same hope as Aragorn, that they might find their way back.
"What did you find while you were away? Anything of interest?"
no subject
Aragorn kept his expression neutral, eyes remaining on Elrond. That faith in him would drive him harder to find that escape. He felt he wasn't the only one there in the settlement searching for it and there was no doubt in his mind that they were the only two who wanted to return to their homes. It wasn't everyone, but a good number of them.
"Animals unlike our own; a bird with colours on it I have never seen before. And an ugly beast that was friendly enough to follow me back. From a hilltop, I noticed a body of water much like Belegaer perhaps a day and a half journey from here."
He would tell his findings first before sharing his ideas.

A subtle amused look entered his gray eyes at the mention of the beast, though he did silently note the mention of a possible oceanic body of water. "An ugly beast? What was so ugly about it?"
He'd found that there were times where it was prudent to not judge something by its appearance. What was fair in seeming, wasn't always fair in nature and not everything foul in appearance was as ugly in nature as it seemed.
