Prompts
- SNOW BLIND - It's snowing, a lot, and pristine landscape though it might create, it also brings plenty of problems, especially when you live in an Edwardian-style village with a serious lack of snow shovels. It's currently blizzard conditions and visibility is nil — Maybe you gave in and ducked into the nearest house for temporary shelter, and discover someone else had the same idea (or just lives there, oops). Maybe you're stubborn enough to still be out in it, struggling against the wind and snow. Or maybe you've tromped into the South Village Inn like a human popsicle, and are just hoping you don't lose any fingers before you make it to the fireplace.
- JUMPED-UP - Winter's here, which means it's the perfect time for an expedition to warmer, southern climes. You've joined a group following the river all the way down to the far southern beach, for fun and for science. On this latest break in your journey, you've spotted a large, jewel-colored feather and picked it up, maybe as a specimen to bring back or just a feather for your cap. Turns out it's an archaeopteryx feather, and you're now, well... let's call it a little gravity-challenged. Not a bad benefit once you figure out how to control it.
- COLD CALL - The snow has slacked off, leaving behind a winter wonderland. Sure, there's plenty to do, but after being cooped up inside for days, most people won't blame you for a morale-booster — That is, unless your way of starting a snowball fight is to pop up and throw them at unsuspecting passers-by. Making a snow man or snow angels might come with a little less retribution, but you do you.
- WILDCARD - Choose your own adventure. Maybe play powers roulette.

His name. From that voice.
Theta thinks with all of the speed of a computer, and even that isn't enough to keep North from bursting into action. He goes from crouching one way, to running the other in short order. The sort of speed and absolute willingness to act that comes with being a Freelancer. With being good enough to even make it to a Freelancer. He throws himself over the short distance, aiming low. He may not have the same weight or size as Maine, but he's big enough, he's got the force of anger behind it, and he's going low to tackle the fucking asshole who killed him.
North! Wait!
He isn't waiting. He's angry.

So Maine doesn't see it coming. He offers no defense. He's confused for a brief moment, and then—
Impact. Low and calculated and strong enough to knock the unbraced Freelancer off his feet. Maine doesn't even stumble; he just falls. Lands on his back with a grunt and reflectively raises his hands to try and shove the other man away.
"The fuck!?"
It's not often that Agent Maine raises his voice. When he does, it comes out like the barked orders of a drill sergeant. And right now, it's evident that he's both confused and pretty fucking irritated that he just got tacked with no warning.

The second thing wrong with this was that Maine wasn't fighting back, just trying to shove him away, trying to gain distance. Which of course was not what the Maine who had attacked him and South did. Third is, now that North is up close, the scars are wrong because his throat is...
Fourth is the shout which only falls in line with his name and the lack of the right scars. And that has him off balance enough that the shove manages to push him side. In part because there is a little traitor voice in his head that gets his muscles to loosen enough so he doesn't pin Maine properly.
A little voice called
Theta...
I tried to tell you to wait, the AI said, a small mix of annoyance and disappointment flooding into North's head. The AI's feelings, not his own. North? North's just confused.
"What the fuck is going on here?" North demanded. He would be happy to take it from Theta or Maine, he doesn't care. Nothing makes sense right now. Enough that he found himself swearing, and normally he kept that impulse locked up tight.
