→ Write LOGS or NETWORK prompts, or both.

THERE ARE ONLY THREE RULES FOR THE TDM:

2. It cannot be the character's arrival into the game.
3. Please only test new characters who do not have a version in the game. Our cast list is here.

→ TDM threads cannot be used to meet AC, but if the character is accepted into the game and both players agree, you may keep the CR.

Prompts

  1. SNOW BLIND - It's snowing, a lot, and pristine landscape though it might create, it also brings plenty of problems, especially when you live in an Edwardian-style village with a serious lack of snow shovels. It's currently blizzard conditions and visibility is nil — Maybe you gave in and ducked into the nearest house for temporary shelter, and discover someone else had the same idea (or just lives there, oops). Maybe you're stubborn enough to still be out in it, struggling against the wind and snow. Or maybe you've tromped into the South Village Inn like a human popsicle, and are just hoping you don't lose any fingers before you make it to the fireplace.

  2. JUMPED-UP - Winter's here, which means it's the perfect time for an expedition to warmer, southern climes. You've joined a group following the river all the way down to the far southern beach, for fun and for science. On this latest break in your journey, you've spotted a large, jewel-colored feather and picked it up, maybe as a specimen to bring back or just a feather for your cap. Turns out it's an archaeopteryx feather, and you're now, well... let's call it a little gravity-challenged. Not a bad benefit once you figure out how to control it.

  3. COLD CALL - The snow has slacked off, leaving behind a winter wonderland. Sure, there's plenty to do, but after being cooped up inside for days, most people won't blame you for a morale-booster — That is, unless your way of starting a snowball fight is to pop up and throw them at unsuspecting passers-by. Making a snow man or snow angels might come with a little less retribution, but you do you.

  4. WILDCARD - Choose your own adventure. Maybe play powers roulette.

Hell no. I'm a rock hopper too. From Ceres.

[ He tries not to let that small kick of disappointment hit him, but it strikes like clockwork, every time. ]

Doesn't ring a bell. Even when I find other spacers, they're never from my own damned world. You haven't heard of Omega Station, have you?

[ spacers. everyone has their slang, he supposes, though he's never heard that one before. ]

I know the feeling, partner. I just came off a station somewhere else, no one knows what system it was even in. Where I'm from it was just the ones in the Belt: Ceres, Eros, Ganymede. And then Eros went up in the atmosphere of Venus. Long ass story.

Huh. Belt as in, asteroid belt? Mine was in a mined-out asteroid, hollow enough to live in.

[ The similarities are like something seen through a glass, darkly. Even this act of compare-and-contrast remains interesting to him: holding up the two images to see where they line up at the edges. ]

Long-ass story worth telling?

Fancy. We just lived on the surface like heathens.

[ not really, he thinks. or that's what he would have thought before reverie. now he isn't really sure. ]

It was a whole genocide situation. Still wanna hear it?

If you don't mind recounting it.

Nah it's practically like breathing at this point.

So there was this thing. I'm going to call it a thing but it's really more of an organism. It's alive, at least in some fundamental way. A bunch of rich Inners got together and decided they could use it as a weapon because of course they did. But it needed testing, they had to see what it would do on a large scale. Grants and ethical allowances for a human study take time, time they didn't have. Not if they were going to sell it to Mars. All of this was happening behind the scenes, you know, not even some of the shitheads in charge had any idea. So they release this thing on Eros. 100,000 Belters infected and they don't even know it. Anyone who wasn't sick tried to leave but the place got locked down.

We got out by the skin of our teeth but then we decided to go back. Set charges around the docks so no one would try to go in and get fucked up too. I lost the fucking detonator into space (first space walk OK buddy) and had to go inside to set it by hand. Place was fucking wild, covered in blue glowing stuff. Well. I had this whole plan to slam a ship into Eros and drive it straight into the Sun. It was going to work, but here's where this shit being intelligent comes in. The rock moved. Like a ship, but it's just a fucking space station on a rock and it's moving like it has goddamn thrusters.

Turns out it was hijacked by Julie's brain, she was Patient Zero for lack of a better term. She was from Earth so that's where she was taking us. An infected rock to slam right into the most population dense planet in the system. So I convinced Julie we should go to Venus instead. I hear it's real nice this time of year.

You were going to throw a space station into the sun.

[ An incredulous laugh, staring at his wrist device. This is some wild shit. And it does have the sound of a a well-rehearsed speech, and something Miller's been able to chew over for a while. And as crazy as it sounds, it's just a beat off from what Reyes could picture happening in his own version of the Milky Way. ]

We had some hostile aliens unleash an engineered plague on my station, but humans themselves doing it for human trials purposes is-- well. Something fucking else. God, I hate the rich.

Yep. It was gonna work, too.

And you can say that again, partner. Though that doesn't seem to be a problem around here.

Nope. All poor as hell and scraping the dregs together. Misery loves company, though, doesn't it?
