Prompts
- SNOW BLIND - It's snowing, a lot, and pristine landscape though it might create, it also brings plenty of problems, especially when you live in an Edwardian-style village with a serious lack of snow shovels. It's currently blizzard conditions and visibility is nil — Maybe you gave in and ducked into the nearest house for temporary shelter, and discover someone else had the same idea (or just lives there, oops). Maybe you're stubborn enough to still be out in it, struggling against the wind and snow. Or maybe you've tromped into the South Village Inn like a human popsicle, and are just hoping you don't lose any fingers before you make it to the fireplace.
- JUMPED-UP - Winter's here, which means it's the perfect time for an expedition to warmer, southern climes. You've joined a group following the river all the way down to the far southern beach, for fun and for science. On this latest break in your journey, you've spotted a large, jewel-colored feather and picked it up, maybe as a specimen to bring back or just a feather for your cap. Turns out it's an archaeopteryx feather, and you're now, well... let's call it a little gravity-challenged. Not a bad benefit once you figure out how to control it.
- COLD CALL - The snow has slacked off, leaving behind a winter wonderland. Sure, there's plenty to do, but after being cooped up inside for days, most people won't blame you for a morale-booster — That is, unless your way of starting a snowball fight is to pop up and throw them at unsuspecting passers-by. Making a snow man or snow angels might come with a little less retribution, but you do you.
- WILDCARD - Choose your own adventure. Maybe play powers roulette.

"Over here," he intones when Alec comes into view. He takes one hand off his hat to give a dispirited wave.
no subject
"Did you try...to root? Or just get caught out...here?"
This slow moving talking is going to be the worst. He shuts his red eyes in annoyance before nodding.
no subject
"Who'd wanna root in this dump," he asks scathingly, then seems to discard the thought. "I guess only a dingus like me would get frozen to the ground. If I had my grass sword I could cut myself loose in a second." And if he was the real Finn he wouldn't have gotten stuck in the first place.
Sadly, Alec's slowed speech makes it very easy to Fern to soliloquize.

"I can feel the...ache in my branches. Let's...get you back to the Inn."
He offers one big green hand for the boy, "...This may...hurt."
no subject
He gives up on the hat, letting it blow off his hair and hang around his neck as he grabs Alec's hand with both of his. This will definitely hurt. He can already feel bits of his feet tearing away from the rest.
no subject
His muscles curl and he moves to pull at him.
"...I've...got you. On the count of three. One. Two..."
And he'll pull him out of the snow.
no subject
“Ugh. Let’s get out of here,” he suggests even as he starts in the direction of the inn.
no subject
It was a tough truth to acknowledge but ever since this boy showed up Alec was...invested. He'd never met a being like him. He wanted to save him. To help him. And if the other humans mattered less then...well.
He shrugged his shoulders, seemingly at nothing.
"The cold...will end soon."

“I don’t know man, do I even have roots? I’m fine, you don’t have to keep fussing.”
no subject
He grits wooden teeth before stepping onto the mat, "...It makes us better then...many humans. People long to be able...to root."
The big green man shivers, "It's...cold. Hopefully inside...I won't be this...stagnate."
no subject
“My brother’s a magic stretching dog,” he offers, hoping that’s somehow relevant to the conversation. “And my other brother is just a normal, non-magic dog. He likes to paint.”
