Prompts

  1. SNOW BLIND - It's snowing, a lot, and pristine landscape though it might create, it also brings plenty of problems, especially when you live in an Edwardian-style village with a serious lack of snow shovels. It's currently blizzard conditions and visibility is nil — Maybe you gave in and ducked into the nearest house for temporary shelter, and discover someone else had the same idea (or just lives there, oops). Maybe you're stubborn enough to still be out in it, struggling against the wind and snow. Or maybe you've tromped into the South Village Inn like a human popsicle, and are just hoping you don't lose any fingers before you make it to the fireplace.

  2. JUMPED-UP - Winter's here, which means it's the perfect time for an expedition to warmer, southern climes. You've joined a group following the river all the way down to the far southern beach, for fun and for science. On this latest break in your journey, you've spotted a large, jewel-colored feather and picked it up, maybe as a specimen to bring back or just a feather for your cap. Turns out it's an archaeopteryx feather, and you're now, well... let's call it a little gravity-challenged. Not a bad benefit once you figure out how to control it.

  3. COLD CALL - The snow has slacked off, leaving behind a winter wonderland. Sure, there's plenty to do, but after being cooped up inside for days, most people won't blame you for a morale-booster — That is, unless your way of starting a snowball fight is to pop up and throw them at unsuspecting passers-by. Making a snow man or snow angels might come with a little less retribution, but you do you.

  4. WILDCARD - Choose your own adventure. Maybe play powers roulette.

Frank has been known to instigate a snowball fight or two while he's out clearing walkways. There's a pitbull in a bright green sweater pulling some type of sled with a blade on it - basically a rudimentary plow. And ahead of him is a bloodhound, nosing her way through the snow and braying so often to tell the other dog where to turn. It's a well-oiled machine so he feels safe in ditching out for a moment to see where the man went. He was just trying to say hello!!!

He ducks around the corner and dodges the snow easily by turning his shoulder to catch it. The hooded figure has completely vanished - huh, except he knows things aren't always as they appear. Maybe he got a cool power from this place or maybe he's just shifty. Frank can be pretty shifty himself. Hearing the squirrel dogs carry on, he frowns at the mysterious box that definitely wasn't there before. He signs for his dogs to stop before they can run it over and gets in between them and the item, shooing the cute little critters away while Aretha and Aloe sit pretty waiting for whatever happens next.

The toe of his boot taps gently against the side of the box in an obvious pattern, Morse code for anyone familiar. H-I.

Frank smiles as well, always happy when his codes are understood. He'd prefer not to speak when he has the option though he's beginning to pick the skill back up casually again after long months in silence and only a word here or there. He's starting to reclaim his role of getting the newbies settled too, he was once really damn good at it in Reims. It's just hard to keep up the energy for it when so many are dismissive of his efforts.

Still, sure enough comes the reply, Frank shaking his head though the other man can't see it: S-A-F-E.
