Prompts

  1. SNOW BLIND - It's snowing, a lot, and pristine landscape though it might create, it also brings plenty of problems, especially when you live in an Edwardian-style village with a serious lack of snow shovels. It's currently blizzard conditions and visibility is nil — Maybe you gave in and ducked into the nearest house for temporary shelter, and discover someone else had the same idea (or just lives there, oops). Maybe you're stubborn enough to still be out in it, struggling against the wind and snow. Or maybe you've tromped into the South Village Inn like a human popsicle, and are just hoping you don't lose any fingers before you make it to the fireplace.

  2. JUMPED-UP - Winter's here, which means it's the perfect time for an expedition to warmer, southern climes. You've joined a group following the river all the way down to the far southern beach, for fun and for science. On this latest break in your journey, you've spotted a large, jewel-colored feather and picked it up, maybe as a specimen to bring back or just a feather for your cap. Turns out it's an archaeopteryx feather, and you're now, well... let's call it a little gravity-challenged. Not a bad benefit once you figure out how to control it.

  3. COLD CALL - The snow has slacked off, leaving behind a winter wonderland. Sure, there's plenty to do, but after being cooped up inside for days, most people won't blame you for a morale-booster — That is, unless your way of starting a snowball fight is to pop up and throw them at unsuspecting passers-by. Making a snow man or snow angels might come with a little less retribution, but you do you.

  4. WILDCARD - Choose your own adventure. Maybe play powers roulette.

There was a considerable amount of time where Rinoa thought the two of them could be the real thing. They weren't in love, no, but there was attraction and more than that between them, but looking back on it there was no small amount of reality that she was doing the classic rich girl thing of getting back at her father. Seifer was everything her father would've hated. She did like him, a lot, and things going wrong between them wasn't even really about them. Or their fault. There were powers in play so far above what they could control. She wasn't the only victim of a sorceress' influence.

"She's not a monster, she's a baby. A pet." She wasn't offended though. They did live in a place with monsters and it wasn't like Julia was so drastically different from the kind they fought. Rinoa looked over at her little monster, who stretched out her belly requesting a scratch. Rinoa did just that with her gloved hand. "We found a whole litter in a mining expedition, Mr. Stark needed the materials to build weapons for all of us. And there they were. Several people in the village have her siblings. It sort of happened." And of course Rinoa with her bleeding heart was won over instantly.

Rinoa sighed at his reaction. "Listen, if you don't want me to be here, then I'll go to another room and you can stay here until the storm passes. There's no reason to go back outside if I'm the problem." She brushed her caramel streaked hair over her shoulder, glancing up at him. "There's food and water if you need it, and I brought you a blanket. So ... stay or I'll worry about you dying out there." She turned to leave the room just as she said she would.

And Seifer had been doing the young military boy thing of fleeting, wild romance. They both knew in a realistic sense it was a doomed relationship. One that might have had better memories attached, however, then what they ended up with. No one could have anticipated the way things would end. Likewise he had real feelings for her, genuinely believed in her cause and in his own promises to make it happen for her. Still had feelings for her. Now tarnished with the guilt, jealousy, and hurt that had come thanks to those powers pulling their lives. He felt like he'd swallowed a lead weight.

"Oh," He considers the creature a little longer. The tone hadn't been scathing or accusatory, the term 'monster' carrying a much different and perhaps lighter connotation for him than it might others. They're a natural fact of life where they're from, after all. "You sure?" He considers a little longer. "Looks harmless enough." He's never seen a Geezard ask for belly scratches so maybe she's right.

Ah, now he did have the good graces to look ashamed, if stubborn about it. Curtly he shakes his head, folding his arms over his chest. "It's your house," She shouldn't have to leave her own home. "I'll leave as soon as the weather lets up." If it makes her feel better he won't stubbornly go brave the cold. It's the least he can do.
