Prompts

  1. SNOW BLIND - It's snowing, a lot, and pristine landscape though it might create, it also brings plenty of problems, especially when you live in an Edwardian-style village with a serious lack of snow shovels. It's currently blizzard conditions and visibility is nil — Maybe you gave in and ducked into the nearest house for temporary shelter, and discover someone else had the same idea (or just lives there, oops). Maybe you're stubborn enough to still be out in it, struggling against the wind and snow. Or maybe you've tromped into the South Village Inn like a human popsicle, and are just hoping you don't lose any fingers before you make it to the fireplace.

  2. JUMPED-UP - Winter's here, which means it's the perfect time for an expedition to warmer, southern climes. You've joined a group following the river all the way down to the far southern beach, for fun and for science. On this latest break in your journey, you've spotted a large, jewel-colored feather and picked it up, maybe as a specimen to bring back or just a feather for your cap. Turns out it's an archaeopteryx feather, and you're now, well... let's call it a little gravity-challenged. Not a bad benefit once you figure out how to control it.

  3. COLD CALL - The snow has slacked off, leaving behind a winter wonderland. Sure, there's plenty to do, but after being cooped up inside for days, most people won't blame you for a morale-booster — That is, unless your way of starting a snowball fight is to pop up and throw them at unsuspecting passers-by. Making a snow man or snow angels might come with a little less retribution, but you do you.

  4. WILDCARD - Choose your own adventure. Maybe play powers roulette.

Taking the offer hand, he hauled himself off out of the snow and grinned at her. He couldn't help but notice that she was rather pretty, and looked cute covered in snow. What? He was a guy, sometimes you couldn't help but notice these things, but it went through his head pretty quickly before getting out like a light being turned on and off.

He didn't look so great himself, black hair tousled every which way, face pink from the cold, but he was still grinning. Running fingers through his hair, he slicked it back as his hand came back wet.

"What can I say? The snow brings out the not so inner child in me." Dick laughed. "That sounds great though. Burying people in snow when they walk outside, taking them by surprise? I like it." He nodded.

"Only the people we know, though. Agreed full-heartedly on that!"

Hawke always appreciated a good looking man, and he was certainly one of those. "A village of beautiful people, I swear," she murmured to herself. She had been saying this since she got there. The majority of people there were unusually attractive. She just assumed their overlords/gods/what have you wanted eye candy while they watched. She would do the same were she in their shoes.

"My father used his magic when we were little, to make it snow as a treat. It's fun up until the time someone does it as a prank and sticks ice down the back of your pants. Or into your bed. Or freezes the lake when you're jumping into it." Not her father, obviously, that was a sibling sort of emphasis. Bethany was in general not much of a mischief maker, so Carver had to be behind all of those ideas. They didn't have a whole lot to laugh about back then, so they used what they could.

"What's your name, pretty boy?" She said, focusing back on the subject at hand and not memory lane.

This was a village of beautiful people, Dick whole-heartedly agreed. Which was ridiculous, really, but who was he to complain? Maybe he was just used to being surrounded by beautiful people, though. He'd hung out with beautiful aliens, and girls, and guys, and did he mention aliens already? Maybe it was a superhero thing, you had to be ridiculously good looking at the same time.

"Your father had magic? Does that mean you have magic?" Asks, unable to contain the child like wonder at that. Just because he grew up around people with superpowers and such didn't mean it was never cool. It was always, always always always, cool.

"My name? Dick Grayson, at your service." Dick gave her the patented Grayson winning smile. "What's your's, Ms. Kicked My Ass at Snow Fighting?"

Hawke smiled because that was bloody cute, and maybe for a moment wished she could say yes. "Nah, not me. My little sister Bethany. Unfortunately I got the looks and charm in the family, and she got the powers." There's no Bethany around to argue with her, which was a real shame, but it was what it was. She plucked snow out of her hair and she had none of the same wonder in her when it comes to magic. Too many mages in her life. But she did remember being a child and watching her father make snow.

That was one hell of a winning smile. "I'm Marian Hawke, I go only by Hawke, it has an E at an end, and I swear I will try my absolute best not to be a teenager and come up with an outrageous amount of dick jokes. I hope you understand the restraint this requires." Hawke had her own version of childishness, and that was right up there on the list. There were so many jokes! So little time!

"Between you and me, I got all the looks and charm in my family too, so I'd say we're on equal footing." That wasn't true, of course, because every single person in the Batfamily was downright gorgeous, and so he's joking. But Dick had more natural charm then most, whereas they're all (okay, not all, but most of them) are good with the manufactured charm. Still, he'd change some of that for some cool magic powers some days.

She had one hell of a smile, too. "I can promise you, I've heard them all, so if you can come up with a dick joke that I haven't heard of? I am ready to hear it!" Dick laughed. He'd learned to take the jokes with his name in stride. He hated going by Richard, and he'd once gone by 'Rich', but it didn't suit him. So Dick's dick jokes is what he had to live with.

"Feel like getting something hot to drink?" Smooth right there is what that was.

"Oh, darling, I could write a book of them for you. If my crew was here it'd be about an hour of innuendo. At least." They all had bawdy senses of humor, and she loved them for that. Merrill was the only one a bit shy about it, but she eventually started to warm up. Hawke wondered where she was now. Somewhere safe hopefully. At least he could laugh about it. Hawke appreciated a man with a good sense of humor, especially when it was self-deprecating.

Hawke grinned at him, crossing arms against her chest. He was younger, but not by much, and really, why not. He seemed like someone worth hearing a bit more about. "I always feel like getting something hot." She did warn him about the innuendo, dick jokes or not. She winked. "Sure, although I'd love it if they had some warm alcoholic cider here like they did back home. Alas."
