2. It cannot be the character's arrival into the game.
3. Please only test new characters who do not have a version in the game. Our cast list is here.

→ TDM threads cannot be used to meet AC, but if the character is accepted into the game and both players agree, you may keep the CR.

Prompts

  1. STAYING POWER - Go down to the bunker, they said. You can get yourself amazing powers from the vending machine, they said. Well, you've done that, and you've made your choice, but one thing nobody told you was that unless it's a power you're familiar with, you might be on a teensy bit of a learning curve when it comes to keeping it under control. You have a week to figure it out without killing anyone; have fun!

  2. FORGIVE AND... - You poor thing, you've gotten into some dust moths. Not that you can remember that, because depending on how big that swarm was and how quickly you got out of it, you might not remember much at all. Better hope somebody's got some Forget Me Nots on hand.

  3. HIT & RUN - Life in the village can be pretty sleepy... until suddenly, it's not. Were you being a troublemaker? Were you disturbing the local wildlife? Because it's now disturbing you, chasing you down the street in front of everyone. Maybe it's a herd of chupapaca or a swarm of fireflies. Or maybe you went old school and it's just a really pissed off badger. Godspeed and good luck.

  4. WILDCARD - Choose your own adventure. Maybe play powers roulette.

Texts

All characters are fitted with a smart watch-like device on their left wrist, which they can use to send text messages to other villagers.

- Texts may only be 140 characters long
- No video or voice, text only
- Display names may be changed by characters on the fly, but anyone can tap to see someone's real full name

Please list your CHARACTER NAME, CANON & PROMPT in your SUBJECT LINE.

"Well are you feeling lucky?" He has after all been rescued by a terribly handsome elf, which is a terribly fortunate turn, is it not? It is. Zev guides this lovely lad past the frost, off to safer, slightly warmer pastures. "It seems as though we are in luck."

At least for the moment. Perhaps he spoke too soon?

"As lucky as one can be with boots frozen to the ground."

Zevran certainly is something not quite human on further inspection, along with being handsome. The tattoos caught his immediate gaze, but the pointed ears kinda give it away now he's closer. He certainly will be keeping an eye out for fangs, or lack thereof. Either way, it is probably for the best to keep in mind who is or is not human.

"Let's see if it lasts." But he is more at ease now, and the ice seems to be melting overall based on his mood. Then, said more to himself-"I will have to try again later. I wonder if this was something I did wrong, rather than the power itself...."
ombranera: (Not a bad look for you!)

"I have some limited experience with mages and their ways- are you perhaps stressed? Of course you are, you've been brought here, this place causes stress with the weather, the strangeness, and the foreign stars." Zevran pauses to rummage around in his pack, spreading out a larger folded over cloth for his damsel to stand on. "I shall fetch your boots, I ought to be able to tug them loose now."

Gently, of course, because while they are strange? They are leather.

"Somehow I doubt my mental state has very much to do with it at all." Alucard has been raised on a diet of science-based magics. Everything can be explained with math or physics of some kind, right? He's polite but firm about this and perhaps just a little patronizing. He doesn't expect anyone to understand this, and totally thinks he's in the right.

"If it's safe to cross, there's no need for you to fetch them for me." He appreciates the gesture, but he doesn't see the point in it. They're just boots, and this stranger has risked enough to get him across already. If anything, he's starting to appear to be too nice...
ombranera: (Well if that is how you feel...)

[personal profile] ombranera 2018-12-06 06:11 am (UTC)(link)
"Where I am from that is how magic works- and the danger in it. Mages are stressed by nature, being told from birth that you are dangerous because you can do this terrible thing would be stressful, no? And if they are not calm and in control of their emotions? Barns burn, fountains turn to frost, or they skip the damage and go straight to being possessed by demons." So. That is cause for kid gloves- he has fought and killed his fair share of abominations.

Here he is not armed half so well and he'd rather avoid it entirely.

"Perhaps you will not frost them over again, perhaps you might. Best to keep the...what is the term? Potentially volatile variable away from the mix."

"I can see how that would be stressful, yes. And I imagine those who have little to no knowledge of magic are the ones who informed them of this 'danger'."

Ah, that explains why the man is being so nice. He clearly thinks if he upsets Alucard then it'll get worse. Given he seems to have past experience with mages of some kind, he is willing to play along with this seeming paranoia. It wouldn't be the first time he tries to make others more comfortable with his use of magic.

"I will wait here then. I agree that if this power caused my boots to be frosted over again that would...rather irritating."
ombranera: (So you say)

[personal profile] ombranera 2018-12-06 07:03 am (UTC)(link)
"Naturally. One the one hand, they know little. On the other- what little they know is that most of the time? They are the ones that end up dead. So." Neither side can win for how fucked magic is back home, clearly.

"As you are grown I assume this is not the way of things where you are, late manifestations aren't something that happen for one, and for another this place does so love to suddenly bequeath magic upon the populace. And that magic is different. No demons. But it does still seem to respond to stress or anger or- whatever it is anyone might be feeling intensely." Compounded by the fact that, shit, suddenly magic. Zevran peels the boots free from their icy prison before returning them, all smiles. "And here we are."
fahrenheit1475: (Tiny smile)

[personal profile] fahrenheit1475 2018-12-08 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
"They'd likely end up less dead if better men were in charge of their education." There's a small edge of anger there. But unlike his father, he can't blame everyone remotely involved. Those in charge will do what they want.

"I think it would be impossible to call what I had a late manifestation. Additionally, magic is truly just a science where I am from. I was taught as much as possible from....a young age. It's hard to imagine emotions being linked to that science." Age is a weird thing to Alucard. He only hesitates a little on that note.

"Thank you. I will do my best to make sure they aren't....stuck somewhere again." It's said as a bit of a joke as he fully intends to continue experimenting with this and it could very well happen again. But maybe he shouldn't tell his rescuer that.

"Educate the masses? Perish the thought. However will the wealthy and noble remain so if the rest of the world actually learns things?" He snorts, shaking his head as he offers back over the boots. "I have seen magic treated both ways- though the science of magic was being studied by someone that summoned demons with blood for whatever reason, isolation does make the mind go strange, does it not?"

Researching the Taint. Attempting to find a cure. Lengthening his span considerably to see it done.

"I suppose it is not so odd that others might do the same. It would make more sense than to treat it as something quite so...abstract?"
