Test Drive
→ Holds and applications are always open. Holds are required for all applications.

→ Choose one of the scenarios below or make up your own. Feel free to try multiple scenarios.

→ Write LOGS or TEXT prompts, or both.

THERE ARE ONLY THREE RULES FOR THE TDM:
1. It has to take place in the 6I universe.
2. It cannot be the character's arrival into the game.
3. Please only test new characters who do not have a version in the game. Our cast list is here.

→ TDM threads cannot be used to meet AC, but if the character is accepted into the game and both players agree, you may keep the CR.

Character want ads are here.

Prompts

  1. STAYING POWER - Go down to the bunker, they said. You can get yourself amazing powers from the vending machine, they said. Well, you've done that, and you've made your choice, but one thing nobody told you was that unless it's a power you're familiar with, you might be on a teensy bit of a learning curve when it comes to keeping it under control. You have a week to figure it out without killing anyone; have fun!

  2. FORGIVE AND... - You poor thing, you've gotten into some dust moths. Not that you can remember that, because depending on how big that swarm was and how quickly you got out of it, you might not remember much at all. Better hope somebody's got some Forget Me Nots on hand.

  3. HIT & RUN - Life in the village can be pretty sleepy... until suddenly, it's not. Were you being a troublemaker? Were you disturbing the local wildlife? Because it's now disturbing you, chasing you down the street in front of everyone. Maybe it's a herd of chupapaca or a swarm of fireflies. Or maybe you went old school and it's just a really pissed off badger. Godspeed and good luck.

  4. WILDCARD - Choose your own adventure. Maybe play powers roulette.

Texts

All characters are fitted with a smart watch-like device on their left wrist, which they can use to send text messages to other villagers.

- Texts may only be 140 characters long
- No video or voice, text only
- Display names may be changed by characters on the fly, but anyone can tap to see someone's real full name

Please list your CHARACTER NAME, CANON & PROMPT in your SUBJECT LINE.

He handles the creature with a comfortable ease. What he knows of this thing's venom is scary, but taipan venom is still scarier, and they have one of those at the zoo back home. Admittedly he usually gets the assistant who's immune to venom on account of being a reptile herself.

"Probably, but but far more ethical than testing them on someone else. And safer still than my alternative for antivenom. Thank Grandpa Thomas for bringing O-negative into the family." He frowns a little. "I may still have to take that route, if the refrigeration fails. In which case I might need you and/or Dr. Banner on hand."

The princess huffs, putting her hands on her hips to glare at him.

"Don't think I'll help if you poison yourself."

"Alcohol is a poison, we just injest it in small enough quantities to usually keep from killing ourselves," Alex says, calmly closing the snake back in its enclosure after emptying its venom glands.

"Exposing myself to micro-doses over an extended period will be a risk, but it's a tried-and-true method of treatment in places without reliable freezing methods- which if we ever lose power for any period of time, we will be," it's a calm, simple explanation.

He stops to reorganize some of his tools, murmuring something about "missing the Mice." The capital letter is kind of audible, somehow. He'd gotten so used to having Aeslin assistants when it came to some of the more mundane scientific tasks. Sorting biological samples had been a form of religious observance for his splinter colony, the way choreographed ballroom numbers were for Verity's, and the mice beginning to form specific worship of Antimony were kept far, far away from firecrackers lest they get ideas.

"Usually," she grumbles. She doesn't like this plan, honestly. Why can't they just have magic instead?

"Are you looking for something?"

"No, just used to having a half-dozen or so very very tiny assistants tidying for me as I work," he admits. "I'm going to have to actually start looking for a lab assistant."

“I’d offer my services but I think I’m needed more elsewhere.” She does a great deal of hunting and gathering for the village. It keeps her busy, which keeps her from worrying.

"I miss having interns," Alex said in an almost moping tone. "Can you grab me those leather gloves while you're here? And those little metal spatulas? I'm going to start scraping the candy frogs."

"I'm not sure I want to be here for that," she decides with maidenly disgust. She doesn't really like any of the creepy crawlies he keeps around. At least the snake-bats are odd enough that they don't scare her like normal snakes. The candy frogs are apt to start hopping all over the place.

All the same, she collects the requested items and brings them over to his desk.

"You can stand back if you like. I'm keeping them calm enough to stay still." He motions to their surroundings, where most of the animals are dozing, despite being a mix of nocturnal and diurnal species.

He pulls on the gloves, and lifts up the lid for the frog tank, picking one groggy froggy up and gently using a metal spatula to collect the secreted venom.

She sees that, yes, but frogs. She backs up to the door, so she can escape if needed.

"Enjoying your new power?"

"Yes, actually," he says, sounding awfully cheerful for a man holding a deadly amphibian with only leather between him and horrible poison.

"If I'd had this when I had my poison dart frickens I probably could have kept the little guys. Gorgeous coloration, but not so great for captivity."

"You would keep them? As pets?" She's horrified by the very prospect.

"I didn't have these, specifically," Alex says, setting the dozing frog back into its enclosure and picking up one of its tankmates to repeat the process.

"When I was a teenager I helped my parents and some family friends raise some very colorful little guys like this, but with feathers. These ones were endangered, we were breeding them to try to repopulate their native habitat."

He speaks very evenly and calmly as he works, having to focus on the feeling to keep projecting it to the animals. But there is something comforting about something this repetitive and routine- plus, the frogs were pretty cute.
