Prompts

Happy anniversary, villagers! Buckle up!

1. HEAT WAVE - Poor you. All you were trying to do was get yourself a little something to eat from the kitchen at the inn. Maybe you cooked it up yourself (The inn does, after all, have an electric stove — FANCY!), or maybe you just grabbed some leftovers. By accident or on purpose, you ended up with way more RED SALT in there than you maybe should have, and this is no ordinary seasoning. Whether you like things eye-wateringly spicy or not, it's August, you're sweating buckets, and it's only getting worse.


2. SKUNK DRUNK - Isn't that just the way? You're out and about, minding your own business, and you get sprayed by a BROWN SKUNK. The good news? It doesn't stink like a normal skunk. The also possibly good news, depending on who you ask? You're now in for about 5 hours of being very, very friendly. (Just remember to keep the test drive PG!)


3. BRAIN CANDY - Whether you made it to the anniversary party or not, you've gotten your hands on a piece of leftover candy from the big bash. Careful, though, these treats are more than meets the eye: Whatever COLOR it was, you've now taken on the associated personality traits. (Not the power, just the traits.) At least it only lasts 10 minutes.


4. WILDCARD - Choose your own adventure. Maybe play powers roulette.

All characters are fitted with a smart watch-like device on their left wrist, which they can use to send text messages to other villagers.

- No video or voice, text only
- Display names may be changed by characters on the fly, but anyone can tap to see someone's real full name

Not exactly.

[ he narrows his eyes. surely he didn't forget this being? even he couldn't do that. but he speaks to john like he not only knows him, but trusts him. and that is an extremely slim category indeed. ]

I'm not even entirely convinced it's a who at all. [ the offer gets something like a scoff. ] Cute, but if they were scared of either of us, do you think we'd be here? We're being toyed with, this is someone's idea of a game. Or something.

[houmaprotector]

[They should be scared of him. Now that Constantine is here he could theoretically help with getting those powers back couldn't he? He stands, towering over him and listening. A game.]

...Whoever's done it has taken my abilities. I'm cut off from the green, I can't travel, I can't...regrow my body either. It's disorienting.

Since you have your abilities you can help both of us. Not to be coy, but I'll hold him and you punch.

[This is a perfect plan. Brilliant. Nothing can go wrong.]

[nifties]

[ he hates to admit it, but his face falls when ST begs his help, ultimately giving him away before he can make another excuse. ]

If you were counting on my reputation, mate, you'll be sorely disappointed, I'm afraid. This is the one thing I can do, for now. There's no telling when it'll be taken from me as well.

[ he appears to one side of alec, then the other and then right in front of him with a shrug, joint traded for a lit hand-rolled cigarette that he now takes a long drag from. ]

Wish I could help, really I do. [ are you convinced?? ]

[houmaprotector]

They can take things away from you?

[He wilts, literally wilts at the idea. They can give people back their abilities and then take then away? He turns away, hands clenched at his sides. A few drops of slime drip out of his clenched hand and frowns.]

...Why am I not surprised? The power these beings possess is unimaginable.

[nifties]

I'm not sure if it's because of them or because of this place, but yes.

[ john frowns, that is not the attitude he wants alec to have. ]

That's about enough of that, mate. If I wanted a daily dose of self-loathing and defeat I'd just look in a mirror.

[houmaprotector]

[He stares at him mournfully.]

...Have you seen what I look like? I can't express self-loathing and defeat.

[He stands up and looks at him.] ...I suppose you're right though. Better to find something to do then just...wallow in self-pity.

[nifties]

Really? 'Cause you were doin' it just fine a second ago.

[ he waves a finger around at alec indicatively while taking a long drag. ]

Damn right I'm right. We find a way out of here so we can go home and wallow properly, at least.

[houmaprotector]

[Agreed. He plucks a leaf off his scrubs.]

How did you get the ability back that you have?

[nifties]

There's a machine. Under the lake.

[ he's staring at alec like he's trying to assess if he'll fit. he had to, right? if he came through the fountain. or if he didn't. ]

Did you come from there? The bunker?

[houmaprotector]

[They looked at him like he was a freak of nature, poking and prodding at him and that sense of disconnect when he couldn't fight back...really fight back...]

...Yes.

[nifties]

[ he nods. ] Suppose we all did, mate. One way or the other.

Anyways, there's a machine down there. You can get power from it. I'm sure I'll pay my tab when the time comes, but if you want I'll show you how it works.

[houmaprotector]

...Yes.

[Instantly. He stands.] Let's go. The sooner I can get my abilities back the sooner I'll be able to get-

[He pauses.] get the two of us out of here.

[nifties]

You won't get your abilities back. You'll get one useless thing like this-

[ oh wait a second. he puts out the cigarette and drops it into his pocket, then winks. ]

Meet ya down there, handsome.

[ and then he pops out of existance again. ]

[houmaprotector]

[He's been deceived by John before but the man seemed sincere. So he moves to follow him. Standing up and cursing him and this place that's left him unable to travel he heads down to the lake.]
