Prompts
Happy anniversary, villagers! Buckle up!
- HEAT WAVE - Poor you. All you were trying to do was get yourself a little something to eat from the kitchen at the inn. Maybe you cooked it up yourself (The inn does, after all, have an electric stove — FANCY!), or maybe you just grabbed some leftovers. By accident or on purpose, you ended up with way more RED SALT in there than you maybe should have, and this is no ordinary seasoning. Whether you like things eye-wateringly spicy or not, it's August, you're sweating buckets, and it's only getting worse.
- SKUNK DRUNK - Isn't that just the way? You're out and about, minding your own business, and you get sprayed by a BROWN SKUNK. The good news? It doesn't stink like a normal skunk. The also possibly good news, depending on who you ask? You're now in for about 5 hours of being very, very friendly. (Just remember to keep the test drive PG!)
- BRAIN CANDY - Whether you made it to the anniversary party or not, you've gotten your hands on a piece of leftover candy from the big bash. Careful, though, these treats are more than meets the eye: Whatever COLOR it was, you've now taken on the associated personality traits. (Not the power, just the traits.) At least it only lasts 10 minutes.
- WILDCARD - Choose your own adventure. Maybe play powers roulette.

"If it wasn't that I don't plan to leave you in the dust, I don't think keeping up is a problem," she taunts, keeping her sense of humor in the face of this. Dark as it might be sometimes. "But it's Ashley, and you better. Spent the best part of a day on the anvil making those," she admits, giving him a wink.
"How about this. Make a run for it, and I'll cover your back. Maybe with some time to focus you can find control. You know, in case it sticks." Hey! She has no idea how things in this place work, she's just glad for the power dampening because of family members she has in this place.
no subject
He let out a breathless laugh at her sharp retort, sparing her a quick look. "Well when I have this under control, we'll have to see about that. It's a pleasure to meet you Ashley. I'm Ty."
And while running away from a bunch of kitchen utensils was definitely not glamorous, Ty was willing to take it at this point. He set the stool back down carefully, mentally willing the utensils to drop where they were or to at least slow down. With a small wave to Ashley and a here goes nothing, he turned on his heel and started sprinting towards the woods. He heard a few more ominous crashes and things breaking, but he resisted the urge to look over his shoulder, focused on his goal instead.

Taking a breath, she steps back and gives him a nod.
"If you die, sorry." And she means it. She can't do much more without a clue what it is, or a place to hold anyone with an abnormal behavior. So she can try and help, and make sure he doesn't take a spoon to the neck and end up paralyzed.
And so she does what she promised, and ensures that at least he gets a fair shot in the forest. A few things try and give chase, but after a time the metal stops moving and she finally gives up, dropping the bucket and starting to gather the pieces to drop in the sink of the inn.

But a promise was a promise, and after getting some directions from some of the other villagers, he headed over to where Ashley was last seen, waving his hand in greeting.
"Hey, thanks for your help earlier!" He held open his palm to show the metal knuckles, grimacing apologetically. "You might have to take it back. My control still isn't perfect."

When she sees him again, she's outside a small house down by the river, working on putting a few things together. Glancing up, she offers a smile and a wave as she straightens from where she's been repairing part of the porch. It's not exactly the work she's been trained for but she's quick to catch on.
"Aren't you a man of your word. Not always used to that," she says, taking them from him with a wide grin and sliding them into her back pocket. "Thanks. I know everyone thinks things should be fine here, but not used to being so..." She chuckles. "Naked. How it feels."
no subject
"Are you expecting to have to use these a lot here?" Considering that Ty hadn't been here that long, if there was trouble he was curious about it. He'd mostly been worried about eating something he wasn't supposed to or waking up back in the tubes again without any memory as to why.
no subject
She shrugs, hands on her hips as she considers that. "Maybe? I don't know. No idea what we'll need, but weapons are entirely common, and putting together what I can is important. From whatever is out there, and what people here can be. I mean, no offense, but I don't know you and I don't know others. I'd rather not be unarmed, wouldn't you?"
no subject
He raised his hands up to show he wasn't going to argue with that sentiment, grinning. "No offense taken. That being said, you have a fair point. Weird metal powers aside, I don't have much in the way of protection. If you want to hammer out another set of those, would you let me know?"
He paused, glancing at the house it looked like she was working on, thoughtful. "In exchange, I'll help you out if you'd like."
no subject
"Sure. I can do that. Only because you didn't skewer me," she teases, grinning. "And because, I don't know, I don't get the feeling you want to kill me. I can usually tell." And not just because a lot of things have tried to kill her, her father included.
"Oh I plan to take you up on that. I am probably going to snag a house for myself, and when I do I could use a hand getting it serviceable."
no subject
He had to laugh at her teasing, the tension easing out of his shoulders. "It was a struggle, but in the end I decided it would be pretty unsporting to try to murder someone who was unarmed with kitchen shears." But what kind of life had she led that she had to be able to tell that people were trying to kill her? Probably a question for another time.
"Well, I owe you for today. So feel free to come see me any time. I can't promise I'm the best, but I can be handy."
no subject
Because that is a good thing to know, and really makes her wonder about Druitt then. Not a promising sign.
"Trust me, I will take full advantage of that offer," she teases with a grin.
Is this good to start wrapping up?
Though it sounded a bit like he was biting off more than he could chew, he had to grin back.
"Well as you've seen, I'll keep my word. If you need me, I'm in the yellow house by the fountain."
Works for me
She holds up her hands though.
"Not now though. Just... for your sake. Okay?" Because that worries her more than thinking he was born this way. She's known the world that way. Gaining them? It could overload a person.
"I'll come by soon and we'll talk about it, and thanks for my knuckles back."
