Prompts

July is going to be wet and wild, villagers. Keep an eye to the sky and hold onto your hats!

  1. SAVING FACE - Look at you, trying to save that goat or dog or ZALPACA that's gotten stranded in a particularly nasty storm! You're a regular hero, trudging up that cliffside or swiming across that creek! Unfortunately, the sky didn't get the memo about your heroics, and it's just opened up even more. Finishing this job just got a heck of a lot worse. Good thing someone else just showed up to help both you and your animal pal. You hope. It's possible they're just there to laugh at you.

  2. PANTS ON FIRE - You know what's great? When the storm breaks, the skies start to clear and everything looks sunny again. You know what's not? When the weather pushes the LYING MIST down from the mountainside while you're out trying to clean up. Hope you don't have any whoppers you're trying to keep secret!

  3. SINK OR SWIM - The days when it's not storming are just beautiful, and the village river is running high. There are spots out of the current that are perfect for a cool dip or lounging on the shore, but take care you don't go out too far and get swept away. Oh, and watch out for the RAINBOW CRABS, those claws are sharp.

  4. WILDCARD - Choose your own adventure. Maybe play powers roulette.

Niska | Humans | OTA

i. power drain

It's become extremely clear to Niska that recharging here is a difficult task, but one that must be accomplished. She had made an attempt with the flowers that gave a shock, but she'd been unable to convert it to the energy she needed to keep her going. Even one of Leo's botched patchwork jobs with her port hadn't worked, which meant that she'd had to turn to using the Inn's electricity.

She feels no guilt, even though she's sure she should. She's staying here, she needs it, it's as simple as that. Therefore, it's hers.

Unfortunately, the building itself might have some disagreements with Niska's claim of its power. She's recharged approximately eighteen percent of her power when she feels a sharp shock of power surge in her side and the lights in the inn flicker out, leaving her to stare upwards at the offending lights. Eighteen percent. That's going to last her approximately thirty-nine hours before she needs to charge again.

Of course, there's also the fact that now the inn is without power. That might be slightly more of an inconvenience, but Niska lights a candle and goes right back to reading her book, ignorant of any distress she might have caused any of the humans living with her.

ii. don't lie, I want 'em to know

Cleaning is a menial task, but Niska is all too aware of the fact that unless you want to be disappointed on all fronts, you need to do the work yourself. She's out in the midst of storm wreckage to tidy when, suddenly, she sees the mist begin to cascade down. Tilting her head to the side, she begins to analyze the danger of the threat coming towards her.

Standing unblinking, she sniffs the air and decides there's nothing within it that might cause death, so she continues to work, despite the fact that the fog rolls in faster than it normally would, given the wind conditions. The sudden weather change isn't what stops her, however. It's the person who's come across her little pile of wreckage and seems to be caught in the mist, even as it clears.

"You're lost," she informs them, not waiting for them to speak up. "This is my home." If her new friend has differing opinions, then Niska is most certainly going to find out how good of a bludgeoning weapon her broom might be.

where are all the books here? have they been hidden from us?

[Please note, Niska's a sentient synth, which basically means she's a robot who's human in all ways but her biology. If you cut her, does she not bleed? Yes, but it's going to be very blue and fluidy]
