Prompts

Summer is here, villagers! Sunny skies, warm weather and plenty of weirdness are on the horizon. Don't forget your sunscreen!

  1. THE MILK FOR FREE - Somehow, someway, you have been wrangled into milking one of the GROFFLES recently rounded up by your fellow villagers. Maybe you felt guilty for not helping, or maybe you owe someone scary money. Point is, it's just you, a bucket, and your green milk-giving friend. Just a tip: Groffles are good-natured, but you probably shouldn't squeeze too hard.

  2. LIGHTNING ROD - Earlier today, you made your way into the upper foothills — Were you hunting? Maybe just roaming? — and you came into contact with a BLUE LILY. Maybe you thought it was so pretty you've carried it back to the village with you. If your house didn't have electricity before, it definitely does now!

  3. MEET CUTE - It's a classic: You've gone down into the 6I INN'S dirt-walled root cellar off the kitchen. Maybe you needed supplies or were dropping off some fresh produce. Whatever the case, someone's followed you down for a similar reason... and the door has jammed shut behind them. Seriously, it's not budging. Enjoy getting to know your new best friend in the cozy light of the furnace!

  4. WILDCARD - Choose your own adventure. Maybe play powers roulette.

Texts

All characters are fitted with a smart watch-like device on their left wrist, which they can use to send text messages to other villagers.

- Texts may only be 140 characters long
- No video or voice, text only
- No usernames, everyone is listed by their name

Please list your CHARACTER NAME, CANON & PROMPT in your SUBJECT LINE.

"The guard?" She looks at him with new respect. There were a number of dishonest guards that she had met over her life, but any man willing to swear such an oath was worth consideration and this man did not seem to be the sort to do that lightly. The way he spoke of the sigil, it had to mean something to him. "You served your king?"

She couldn't remember the word off the top of her head, so instead, she placed her hand on the dishwasher. "This. I forget what they call these things, but they run on electricity."

"King, queen, whatever noble was around that day," Porthos jests, even though it's the truth. As he's talking, he's staring at his sparking hands, amazed at what they're doing right in front of his face. It's a strange thing to have happen to you, especially when you're not expecting it.

Staring at her, though, it's a lot easier to talk about serving the king. "What's electricity?" he asks, fumbling through all the English he's ever picked up to figure out what that one means.

"So you are more of a sellsword than a sworn guard?" She didn't think that was the case, but she would fall into teasing him as well. She watches his hands as well, less amazed and more wary. While she had grown used to the idea of electricity, it didn't remove her caution and uncertainty. It seemed dangerous and uncontrollable. She had no wish to have something like that close to her person.

Her mouth opens and closes again. It was a good question and one she wasn't sure she could truly answer. "There are others who know better than I do. You have seen how the inn is lit by something that turns on and off with a switch? What powers it is electricity, I believe. But it is not something from the world I am from."

Porthos makes a face, offended that she could even think something like that. "I mean, I might have been in another life, but I was a sworn member to the Musketeer's guard, under Captain Treville." That's what he's more proud of. The king is...well, he's a bit of a ponce and not Porthos' favourite person.

There are few people that he respects more than he does Treville, though. "So, what you're saying is, the strange torches in the lights, that's done by something like what's happening to me? Does that mean every home is running on flowers?"

She offers an apologetic smile. Men held their honor in different ways. For some, an oath was little but words. The Starks were among the first that she had met who held those oaths as high as honor. He may not be completely like a Stark, but he clearly had honor and she wouldn't risk offending it again. "Forgive me. It was a poor joke."

It was a simplification, but it was as far as she understood it. "I believe so. There are others who can say how it works exactly, but what little I know is that it is caught lightning. A small spark that can be turned on and off by a switch."
