Prompts

It's springtime in your brand-new home, villagers! Many exciting new experiences await you, although you might want to take care; not all are for the faint of heart.

  1. NEW FRIENDS - Congratulations, you are now the lucky recipient of the undying love and devotion of your very own CROC-DOG. Maybe you fed it, or maybe you just didn't run away screaming when you saw it. Regardless, it's your buddy now through thick and thin. Constantly. Everywhere. All the time. We hope you're up for some companionship!

  2. LET YOUR EENT SHINE DOWN - You've come across a SHINE BIRD. You heard its call. Now you can expect an hour's worth of sudden, intense increase in one of four emotions: Joy, sorrow, rage or loneliness. It's entirely possible you'll be apologizing to some people tomorrow.

  3. SPRING IN SPRING - Hey look, it's everybody's favorite prompt: It's warm enough now that it's not completely crazy to go have a dip in the HOT SPRINGS. Naked. And then accidentally get caught.

  4. WILDCARD - Choose your own adventure. Maybe play powers roulette.

Texts

All characters are fitted with a smart watch-like device on their left wrist, which they can use to send text messages to other villagers.

- Texts may only be 140 characters long
- No video or voice, text only
- No usernames, everyone is listed by their name

Please list your CHARACTER NAME, CANON & PROMPT in your SUBJECT LINE.

"I know." She doesn't have to remind him of what he's said. He's under no threat of forgetting what they've all been through, and what that means for them. "Here we're all -- " Not humans. He can't say that. Even without his powers, he's not human. He still has the mutation that makes him different. "We're all the same. And we're all in this together."

Some things are more important than the rest. He's always been about survival, and if survival requires working with the people here, then he'll find a way to do that.

He manages to bite back a laugh at her last statement. That's not going to help either of them right now. "There are no jobs here, at least not the sort that pay in money. There's nowhere to spend money. Anything we want, we have to provide for ourselves." Or hope that a package shows up. "Things are different here. We're just trying to make it through."

No jobs. She raised an eyebrow at him, quietly eating the food without a word in reply. She wasn't sure what to say to all of that. Not only were there no jobs, but she had to learn how to be a hunter and a gardener as well. She sat there in silence, eating and drinking and contemplating how she would clean up when she was done. "I'm guessing I have to find some babbling brook to bathe in too," she muttered.

She had to admit, she could see that he was in his element here. He was a survivor, after all. He would be around long after everyone else had gone. There was a reason she'd followed him so long ago and it wasn't his smile, even if she did fall for it.

"I'm not the same as anyone else." She wouldn't dare admit it to anyone else, but she was frightened. She had no desire to out herself to a village that would string her up or cage her for the color of her skin. She'd seen that too many times in her life now. "How do you... How can you trust so easily? What's happened to you, Erik?"

It does take some adjusting to the new situation, that's for sure. And even without jobs, they're plenty busy with everything else they have to do. He'll help Raven figure that out as the time goes on.

"You could, or you could use the bathroom. There's no running water, but it's still better than a babbling brook." It's more private, at least, which is something.

"If anyone has a problem, they can talk to me about it." He doesn't think they will, after spending more than a year here. There are bigger issues to worry about. "I've gotten to know these people." He's not particularly close to most of them, but he doesn't have any problems either. And he'd spent ten years living among humans, as a human, so was already used to the idea.

"No one here has ever turned on anyone else. We're all in this together. Everyone contributes what they can, and benefits from what others can do." So the commune part was right, at least. "We're actually more concerned about whoever's behind this."

She moved slowly, nodding her head in agreement as she gazed up at him. She too was worried about the who, not necessarily the what. Her first thoughts go to Striker, but she highly doubted he had the brains or the power to affect this much change on his own. Hearing that there was a bathroom surprised her. She assumed that it was like she had stepped into the hippie sixties again and that commune nature of life was what she would have to deal with. It was a life that she had, luckily, been able to avoid the first time around.

"You going to be my boyfriend and beat up anyone who says something bad about me, Erik," she teased. "I don't need you to fight my battles. I can easily punch someone myself." Which was true, but violence wasn't always the answer. Charles would say that. She would have to learn that there were other ways to fight.

"And who is it? Is it Striker?" She pushed her plate away, having only eaten about half of it. She knew she needed more, but she didn't want it.

"Tell me about them. These people?"

"If that's what you want." He means the punching part, although it won't help the situation any. "I know someone who can patch up cuts and bruises." There are a couple of people, actually, but he's got a specific one in mind, who seems to realize by now that these things can happen when he's involved.

"We don't know who it is." He doesn't know about the rest of them, but that's the part that bothers him the most. Not only has someone done this to them, not only are they being watched, but whoever it is hasn't even had the decency to take credit for it. They're just hiding somewhere and expecting everyone to go along with this.

"We're being watched, somehow. We've found observation pods, although by the time we find them they're abandoned. Sometimes the people behind it leave us packages, or feasts. The area around us has recently been expanded, I don't think anyone has figured out by how much yet." It had been almost like arriving in a new place again. At least everything they'd accumulated already had come with them.

He leans back against the counter and tells her the worst part. "They have our blood. No one knows when they took it from us."
