Test Drive
The 3 rules of the TDM
  1. It has to take place in the 6I universe.
  2. It cannot be the character's arrival into the game.
  3. Please only test new characters who do not have a version in the game. Our cast list is here.
Prompts
  • FULL VIEW - The Observers really do their best to make each villager's wrist device as user-friendly for them as possible, but with all new tech, sometimes there's a learning curve... And sometimes, you just screw up. Like now, when you've accidentally triggered the video option and called someone completely random on the network without realizing it. Yep, you're just going about whatever, totally oblivious. Here's to hoping that your clothes are fully on, and that the person on the other end is nice enough to speak up sooner rather than later.
  • SHADOW OF A DOUBT - Being the intrepid (or just bored) villager you are, you've gone exploring and found yourself a very interesting (if moderately spooky) cave. What lurks in the dark? Might it be some shadow dust to turn you intangible? Or perhaps a cave wolf with all of its little goblin-monkey friends? Maybe, just maybe, it's both.
  • ILL AT EASE - 'Tis the season for the common cold, and you've got it. Unfortunately, the village doesn't have a corner drug store, so you're achy, miserable, maybe a little feverish. The good news is a little time in bed should do the trick. That is, if you're not the sort who has to be bullied to take care of yourself anytime you get sick. Either way, maybe you'll be lucky enough to find someone to tuck you in and bring you some chicken soup.
  • WILDCARD - Choose your own adventure. Maybe play powers roulette.
  • NETWORK - All characters are fitted with a smart watch-like device on their left wrist, which they can use to send text and video messages to other villagers. Text and/or video are allowed, any length. Display names may be changed by characters on the fly, but anyone can tap to see someone's real full name.
Please list your CHARACTER NAME, CANON & PROMPT NAMES in your SUBJECT LINE.

Shadow of a Doubt

Perhaps she was used to footsteps being quiet, but Assassin-silent was another thing altogether. The hand that reached out to stop hers was swift and firm, but gentle. "Take care," came the accented voice. "This cave, particularly, is dangerous, and growths such as this can cause dangerous effects. I believe I recognise this one."

White robe.

White hood.

And the symbol of the Assassins sewn into his cowl.

The instinct to disengage and attack was nearly overwhelming, the knife in hand flipped to adjust even as she stood still. "All the more reason to sample." her own voice came steadier than she felt with the shock of someone getting the drop on her. "Is it topical? Ingestible? Are effects a matter of degree based on exposure? Can it be inhaled? Does that change anything?"

Rattling off possibilities eased her nerves. "And is it more dangerous than grabbing a woman's hand?"

He spoke with complete calm. "We are as yet uncertain if it is topical or ingestible, though the possibilities lean toward the latter. The effects seem to happen with even the slightest amount. And yes, sayyida, it is."

With that last, Altaïr released her hand. "How it works, we as yet do not know. But it turns those who at least ingest it both impossible to see and impossible to touch if they enter into shadow. Possibly useful, but we are as yet unsure if it is possible for the effects to be permanent."

He recognised her. Yet, he didn't believe she recognised him. He would explain in time.

Impossible to see and impossible to touch. Interesting. Useful. Potentially. If it could be concentrated in an amount that was controlled, maybe even made into a gas, that'd open up a realm of possibilities. If it was nonlethal and it could be contained or moderated. Further exploration would be needed. All his explanation did was provide more reasons to get a sample.

"That might depend on the hand." Evie pulled back. "Though I've not made anyone see through yet."

He gave her a slow nod. "Then allow me to speak as a mentor. I do not wish to disallow either curiosity or experimentation. I only urge great caution, especially with this. I have had one friend nearly fade due to exposure. I would not have a Sister fade, either."

And then, taking a step back, he half-bowed in the way Maria had taught him. "Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad."

With that name Evie's back went rod straight. Which maybe was expected, or unexpected, it wasn't as if Evie was in the habit of meeting grand master assassin's on any give day. It was like meeting the queen only if the queen was an assassin and also one of the founding queens of all queendom.

"Sir." she coughed slightly, managing a bow of her own. "This is. Unexpected."

"As it ever is," Altaïr agreed. "There are quite a few of us here, Miss Frye. Each has been a surprise to me. I do hope you have already met with your brother. He has seemed greatly lost without you, and though I would wish no one arrive here, that you are here now will help him, I believe."

"Of us?" her voice tilted up to the question of him meaning perhaps more assassin's. Which, given his own appearance, seemed unlikely to be referring to her brother's rooks or her brothers in India. But a half smile teased out that she quickly pushed back as she was in the presence of a legend. "Helping Jacob's my specialty. Even if he might argue."

He nodded, and motioned to the entrance of the cave. "Malik and I are here. There is one by the name of Ezio, whom I have yet to meet, and one of his allies - a man named Leonardo da Vinci. My grandson of many generations is here as well, your brother, of course, and there was a man here by the name of Connor, though he has since disappeared."

Well then Master Ibn-La'Ahad had just begun a greatest names list of those among the records of the Order that Evie had spent her life studying. Her eyes went a bit wider as the names rattled off. She half expected Darius or Bayek of Siwa to be added on. Her eyes followed to the motion towards the entrance and she hesitated a moment. "If I may be impertinent enough to ask, has a man named Henry Green arrived? My brother may call him Greenie?"

It took a moment's thought, but then he shook his head. "I may have heard the name in passing, but there is no one here by that name - I am sorry. I take it he is important to you."

Her appearance was still startling in its way. Almost like having Maria before him again. Hopefully this time, Malik would get to see her as well.

"I would hope so. He's my husband." she answered a bit stiffly. So Henry wasn't here. But he could be. If Jacob was, if all these others, it wasn't an impossibility. An additional curiosity to work through of this place. Her lips pursed for a moment before she faced Master Ibn-La'Ahad head on.

"I'll leave if you answer more questions while we walk." she offered.

"Anything I can answer, of course." There was no hesitation. Altaïr enjoyed speaking with the Assassins from the future, though some of what they told him left him both heartbroken and stunned. He knew what he had left behind in his Codex. That some had strayed so far broke his heart.
