Old Points Exchange Info - Phased Out January 1, 2019

The new points exchange page is located here. Please comment there. This page is strictly for reference.

Earning Points

Points are tallied by player -- If you have multiple characters, all of their points count toward your current player point tally. How you distribute points rewards amongst your characters is up to you, but you may not give/loan points to other players.

Points do not expire if they are not used.

You are not required to tally your points, but your earned points are not available until you do so.

10 pts OTA bonus - 1 open logs post or open top-level of at least 200 words, provided you make a reasonable effort to reply to new threads
5 pts Additional bonus if your logs OTA is a mingle post (Note: This bonus is only for the player making the OTA, not any replies)
10 pts Every logs thread wherein your character comments 5 or more times (May take place over multiple months)
10 pts Every time a reasonable effort is made when your character threads with a character for the first time at 6I, logs or network. This counts even if there was a previous version of the character in the game.
5 pts Checking into the AC post on time
5 pts Per unique logs thread that is part of an event (May be earned multiple times by the same character) - Please note what events you are taking the bonus for on your tally/spreadsheet/tracker. Any event or plot listed on the monthly plot discussion post automatically applies for this bonus.
50 pts Developing and organizing a game-wide event, per player who significantly contributes (Points awarded when the event happens)
15 pts Suggesting an event to the mods which is then used IG (Points awarded when the event happens)
20 pts Recommending a new player who was approved for their 1st character within the last calendar month
5 pts Commenting at least 5 times overall to the monthly TDM. (This is NOT cumulative, it is a one-time bonus for any number of comments over 5 and DOES NOT CARRY OVER if your threads continue into the new month.)
10 pts Meeting and turning in the activity requirement (as opposed to just checking in) for 2+ months in a row, per character. You take this bonus on the second consecutive month and continue taking it each consecutive month as long as the streak holds.
varies Meeting and turning in the activity requirement (as opposed to just checking in) for 2+ months in a row for ALL PLAYED CHARACTERS. The amount of the bonus is your total number of characters multiplied by 10. You take this bonus on the second consecutive month and continue taking it each consecutive month as long as the streak holds. (Effective from July 2018)
10 pts Every network thread wherein your character comments 10 or more times (May take place over multiple months)

Please note that points are cumulative. For example, if you made an OTA and in it had a thread with someone new wherein you'd commented 5 times, it would break down like so:
5 comments thread = 10 pts
OTA bonus = 10 pts
Threading with someone new = 10 pts
TOTAL = 30 pts

Exchanging Points

Currently, points may be exchanged for:

Gift Boxes

  • 100 pts - Level 1 Gift
  • 175 pts - Level 2 Gift

Please see below for gift guidelines.

  • Power & Plot Devices

Abilities demonstrated by characters in canon without assistance (without a wand/talisman/weapon/etc.) which are not world-breaking will be available for ANY character to purchase. (For example, if Superman were in the game, anyone could separately purchase x-ray vision, super-speed, super-strength, etc.) These powers will be available in 1 week increments, for as many weeks as the player wants to purchase:

50 pts - Power for 1 full week (7 days)

Note: You may also purchase now for use at a later date, if you like.

Note: The character cannot return from the dead

    • Superhuman strength and agility

    • Enhanced speed and endurance
This is enhanced speed, not superspeed

    • Telekinesis
      Moving objects with the mind

    • Empathy
Emotion sensing, intuition and potential projection; Player may decide if this ability requires or can be enhanced through physical contact
NOTE: If you decide to buy empathy, please have explicit permission from the characters you are playing against. There is a opt-in post here.

    Other Bonuses

  • 600 pts - Permanent Additional Character Slot (Up to 2 extra, for 7 total maximum characters)

  • 500 pts - Initial investment for building-wide electricity for ONE building. Includes any 3 of the appliances/features below and 6 months to power them.
  • 250 Points - Re-up electricity for 6 months for 3 appliances/features.
    APPLIANCE OPTIONS:

    Vacuum cleaner
    Refrigerator
    Full house lighting
    Iron
    Toaster
    Dishwasher
    Record player
    Popcorn maker
    Sewing machine
    Washing machine
    Percolator (coffee/tea machine)
    Stove
    Waffle iron

    IMPORTANT ELECTRICITY NOTES:

    • You may purchase additional appliances/features and the electricity to power them in 500 point/3 item increments. However, re-upping the power for those 3 new items will require an additional 250 points every 6 months.

    • Multiple players may contribute to electricity costs for shared housing.

    • Per 500 point buy-in or 250 point re-up, you are only provided the power for THREE items off the list. If you use more than 3 appliances at once and you haven't paid for the power to run them, your fuses will blow. You might even blow the whole neighborhood.

    • Appliances are all Edwardian-era or just slightly later. They are clunky. They are temperamental. But they're probably better than what you've been using until now. Reference: Here & Here

  • 200 pts - Memory Boost/Canon Update - Players have two options:
    1. Your character may simply wake up one day physically unchanged, but with a memory boost. They would remember everything about the village, but would also remember what new canon information you chose to update them with.

    2. Your character may disappear for at least 1 but no more than 3 days and reappear in the fountain. They will be physically changed if that applies to the new canon. Injuries would be handled the same as always, which is that they can have an injury for plot purposes, be healed completely or have left a scar. However, this is not like a reapp: All prior memories of the village will return to them once they find themselves back in the fountain.

  • Please use the form below to comment to this post to exchange your points. You may buy multiple items in the same comment, but please submit separate comments for different characters.

    Gifts from Observers

Gifts are given in plain, lidded, sturdy cardboard boxes. The only embellishment is a rectangular tag attached to the top with the character’s name printed in block letters.

    Gifts cannot be:
  • Technology more modern than the Edwardian era (An exception is made for medication and necessary medical supplies)
  • Media of any kind, including books and music
  • Instructions, plans or blueprints
  • Firearms
  • Personal items from home
  • Something that completely negates the survival aspect of the scenario

  • Because there are infinite possibilities for gifts, and because the value of gifts are entirely relative, how many points each costs is a judgement call made principally on the size of the item AND how much it potentially impacts the community. We know this is vague, so we’ve got some examples for the 2 levels that hopefully makes it a bit more clear. Several "lesser" items may be fit into the same gift box, but a present with more impact takes up more proverbial space, regardless of physical size. If you’re unsure how much a gift would cost or if it qualifies at all, just ask. We’re here to help you figure it out.

    LEVEL 1 - 100 points
Fits in a 12" square box

    Examples:
A new pair of hiking boots
Small livestock such as chicks or rabbits
    A small axe
A replacement coat or pair of blue jeans
    Several feet of fabric
A few of reams of paper
    Iron ingots
    A basket of fresh fruit
    A kitten or puppy
    LEVEL 2 - 175 points
Fits in a 24" square box

    Examples:
Supplies for a small repair job
    Head-to-toe outfit
    A birdcage
    A baby goat or sheep
    16 standard bottles of booze

Note: Animals should have a function -- Catching mice, guarding livestock, etc. No purse dogs, please!
Also be aware that any non-livestock animals given as gifts will be INFERTILE.
