Test Drive
→ Holds and applications are always open. Holds are required for all applications.

→ Choose one of the scenarios below or make up your own. Feel free to try multiple scenarios.

→ Write LOGS or TEXT prompts, or both.

THERE ARE ONLY THREE RULES FOR THE TDM:
1. It has to take place in the 6I universe.
2. It cannot be the character's arrival into the game.
3. Please only test new characters who do not have a version in the game. Our cast list is here.

→ TDM threads cannot be used to meet AC, but if the character is accepted into the game and both players agree, you may keep the CR.

Character want ads are here.

Prompts

  1. STAYING POWER - Go down to the bunker, they said. You can get yourself amazing powers from the vending machine, they said. Well, you've done that, and you've made your choice, but one thing nobody told you was that unless it's a power you're familiar with, you might be on a teensy bit of a learning curve when it comes to keeping it under control. You have a week to figure it out without killing anyone; have fun!

  2. FORGIVE AND... - You poor thing, you've gotten into some dust moths. Not that you can remember that, because depending on how big that swarm was and how quickly you got out of it, you might not remember much at all. Better hope somebody's got some Forget Me Nots on hand.

  3. HIT & RUN - Life in the village can be pretty sleepy... until suddenly, it's not. Were you being a troublemaker? Were you disturbing the local wildlife? Because it's now disturbing you, chasing you down the street in front of everyone. Maybe it's a herd of chupapaca or a swarm of fireflies. Or maybe you went old school and it's just a really pissed off badger. Godspeed and good luck.

  4. WILDCARD - Choose your own adventure. Maybe play powers roulette.

Texts

All characters are fitted with a smart watch-like device on their left wrist, which they can use to send text messages to other villagers.

- Texts may only be 140 characters long
- No video or voice, text only
- Display names may be changed by characters on the fly, but anyone can tap to see someone's real full name

Please list your CHARACTER NAME, CANON & PROMPT in your SUBJECT LINE.

No. Although I probably could be? But that's a doctor. I'm the Doctor. There's a difference.

So that's like your hero name? And you were giving me shit.

Like you do, apparently.

What about you? It doesn't sound like you really believe it much yourself. Gods, that is.

Waiting has not, historically, been something that the Doctor is good at. But while she's guessing that the puff of blue smoke is likely the side effect of some sort of teleportation, it's not a sort she's seen before. And that's absolutely enough to hold her attention until Kurt poofs back into view.

"It does sound like those would make things easier."

And she can't blame him for wanting to have his own abilities back. She misses hers, to be perfectly honest. Or at least the ones she hasn't managed to keep anyway. She still has a few questions about why she has some and not the others, but given that she hasn't found anyone to direct those questions at, the idea is a little moot just at the moment.

"I'm the Doctor. It's very nice to meet you."

The flirting, meanwhile has gone completely over her head. But she does seem to be genuinely interested in the idea of being shown around a bit, which is a good start at the very least.

I mean...yes and no. Do I believe in giant white-bearded old dude in the sky? Not really, no. Do I believe in Odin? I mean, yeah, I've seen the guy. Things get weird when you find out that half your world's mythology is real.

And, well, back home, I can do magic, you know? I can create things. I can fly. I can cast spells. I can teleport. I've been traveling through alternate universes with a girl who can kick holes between dimensions, an alien bug soldier who likes 60s girl bands, a super smart guy and a girl with a bow. You learn to believe in the impossible

But gods, like in the sense most religions mean? IDK. I mean, I had a bar mitzvah, my family does Hanukkah and Passover and all the usual stuff, but I guess I've been questioning a while.

Kind of weird to think she talks about us. I mean, it's good! Just...weird. You know?

Errol Flynn is excellent, whoever gave those to you had good taste. I'm pretty sure the fight between Errol and Basil Rathbone in Captain Blood was one of the first things that made me realize I

really liked pirates too

The Doctor is many things, but unobservant isn't one of them. Not in this incarnation anyway, and seeing someone getting dragged out of the way and slammed to the floor by an apparently invisible force is concerning enough to have her turning Eddie's way without so much as a second thought. If there is something invisible and potentially violent hanging around that's absolutely something that calls for her full attention. Especially when she doesn't have her sonic to hand.

The partial conversation that follows is... unexpected. Enough to have her ratcheting down from threat assessment to something closer to concern; that in turn has her making her way over to where Eddie is still lying on the floor with only the slightest of pauses.

(The mug, now all but forgotten, falls to the floor where it - perhaps miraculously - lands without breaking.)

"Hey. I know it's probably not any of my business but... is everything alright?"

You said they were aliens, though? Or did you mean something else?

Certainly sounds like you have a little bit of everything.

What is a bar mitzvah?

I do not think it so strange for anyone's children to be on their mind.

Well. Perhaps it would be for my parents.

Anne has to stare for a few moments because at first glance he could just be one of the fantastical creatures that abound in this place, but between the scrubs and the humanoid structure she's able to figure out fairly quickly.

He seems a little stressed, and she approaches slowly with a hand out.

"Hey, are you alright? You look like you could use a little help."

"Everything's peachy." He winced, "Peachy keen."

No it is not, we were about to be hurt by this being. They must be more careful.

Eddie moves to stand, "I just...tripped."

That's totally plausible right? Right.

"I-" Kurt looks down at himself. His body is whole. He is unharmed, even if there's some sort of white dust making him look like he's got a case of dandruff on his arms. He starts to brush it off, which just gets more onto his arms.

And he's not sure what he was panicking about, exactly. The panic is still there, just accompanied by more confusion.

"I don't know," he admits. "You... look too old to be a student. I... am not at the school, am I? No, the trees are not right, this is- this is somewhere else." His accent is German, worn thin by years of primarily speaking English, and he speaks in a low, gentle cadence, almost as if he goes out of his way not to sound as threatening as he looks.

Okay, this poor blue - man - definitely seemed like he could use some direction. She sees the cloud of white dust as he pats his arm and remembers the moths; she's been there.

She'd have to be careful if she didn't want to end up there again, but this man clearly needed some help.

"No, we're not at the school," She offers her hand out to him, a tacit sign that she's not threatened by him and is willing to help lead him back to the village. "but we can go to the school, if you want."

"My name is Anne, what's yours?"

"Yes, so Thor told me. The Hulk became a champion gladiator on this planet for years. For him it was an ideal situation I'd guess." People liked him, he got to be in the driver's seat the entire time, and he fought every day. What wasn't to like for the Hulk? "This Asgardian Scrapper 142 was close with him. Thor said they had entire conversations. Short ones, but." It meant the Hulk could think and speak in full sentences and reason through things. Which was absolutely terrifying as a concept. "That's why I think he wasn't coming out when fighting Thanos. He can make his own choices now."

A beat. "Or he could." Since the Hulk isn't here. Bruce is alone in his head for the first time in thirteen years. It still hasn't fully sunk in.

Bruce nods, because he understands that about Tony. As much as the two scientists are alarmingly similar and tight, he knows that Rhodey has been with Tony so long, they're practically family. He might be able to translate Tony Stark, but it's a native language to Rhodey. "We did a very wrong thing, I can't say I'm surprised about that." People like to blame Tony for Ultron more than him, but he blames himself entirely for it. It's not that Bruce blames anyone for wanting accountability for the Avengers. The Hulk alone brings up red flags, he's aware. "I'm not rational when it comes to Ross, I can't think about him without going crazy. It would have gone so much worse." And it went badly! So worse was saying something.

"No one could win in that situation, from what I've heard. All of you had to make choices with only bad options in front of you. I'm sorry about what happened to you. I know you're a soldier so you put yourself on the line every day during your career, but it's still not right."

His eyes narrowed with doubt, but some things, he simply knew. She was nervous, in a way. Unsure. So he took what she said about never seeing a place like this to be true. That she didn't understand the idea of 'English' seemed odd. It was the language she spoke. How he knew that, he wasn't sure, but he knew of the English and the Crusaders, of the war that had been happening throughout his lifetime just beyond the walls of--

Of...

Of a village he could see, or thought he could see, but not name. He saw rocks, a mountain, square buildings stepping up the mountain's side.

But the name stayed out of his grasp.

"I took a risk in asking at all," he muttered. "I dare not trust more than I must." He had enemies. And they could be anywhere.

He heard the confidence and couldn't blame the young man for its presence. After all, to him, this was second nature. To Altaïr, trees this tall were a rarity. "A living thing holds my weight," he answered, "and I can feel it bend beneath me." He wasn't holding to the trunk. The branch still held him, and his balance on it - even as high as he was, was impeccable. But--

"I can see no path from here. Will you lend me your experience, Akhi?" Without a trace of shame or embarrassment, Altaïr asked for that much assistance, even crouching to look to his fellow Assassin who was watching him from the ground.

I mean, I guess. It's still kind of new to me. The idea that I'm my parents' kid, but I'm also hers? I guess not everyone has two sets of parents, you know? Like real parents.

I'm sorry about yours. They're missing out.

Oh. I thought you meant--

Nevermind, it's cool

Yeah, Asgardians are basically just aliens, I think, even if they are super powerful and have all sorts of crazy magic and also basically live forever

A bar mitzvah is a coming of age ceremony. Like a rite of passage. When a kid turns 13, they become basically an adult in the community. My family's Jewish--I mean so am I, but, you know. See above questioning.

The confused look on his face clears as she talks about controlling the wind, his expression lighting up instead. "Oh--that explains it. First time out with the new powers?" There's sympathy in his voice, an amused sort of understanding. "I'm fine, really, it's cool. I'm good. You missed me with that tree."

Billy takes a few steps closer, still keeping a polite distance, gesturing between her and the stick. "You don't really need that, but a focus is a good idea. It helps, when you're trying to use a power like that. Back home, I used words as a focus. Like, repeating the thing I wanted to happen over and over. It helped me visualize what I was trying to do. You wanna try again?"

I've always thought so. But Mystique's approach to motherhood has always been... non-traditional, shall we say.

[ Which is to say, most parents do not throw their children off cliffs shortly after birth. ]

Staying Power

Loud cursing was never a good sign, and coupled with the ominous clanking noises that were getting progressively louder, Ty was tempted to let someone else sort it out and keep tending to his herb garden. Which, despite his best efforts, didn't seem to be growing as well as he had hoped. But when he heard someone getting knocked over, he stood up by reflex, catching the tail end of the cause of the noise to get fall backwards, Ty wincing. Any thoughts of ignoring this kid went out the window once he saw how many scratches he was covered in, and he leaned against the side of his house to get a better look.

"New to your powers?" He asked, a bit sympathetically. He'd been there too, and it had been no fun.

"I have some water from the healing springs for your cuts if you want it."

Yeah. Yeah, that's a good way to put it. I mean, it's a serious occasion, but there's the party afterward. My dad likes to joke that we just love any excuse to have a party, but it's good to celebrate milestones, you know? Like, birthdays are important, but it's different when it's A Birthday. One of the important numbers.
