This is the problem with never traveling outside of Odalya or Kion or any other temperate weather country. When one sees blizzard conditions, one does not realize how fast the cold in those conditions can become the worst part. It starts with the lack of sensation in one's fingers and toes. Then it starts to creep up the legs. One starts to shiver violently. Then one's face goes numb and one loses feeling in their nose. So by the time Kalen managed to find his way to the inn, he was sure that he had lost several appendages.
He had done his best to remove the snow by kicking it off his boots at the door but that did nothing for the snow that was already stuck to his face and hair. He was still shivering quite a bit while he was scowling at the fire and had not yet taken his coat off.
"It would be so much easier to warm up if I could use a rune."
Grumbling some more inaudibly, the teenager started to shrug the backpack down to the floor. Chilled and now becoming wet as the snow melted, Kalen's feeling of frostbite was now morphing into a foul mood.
