Consider the electrocution risk. At least where I am from there is a potential for this, which is why the drier often has a very large box where the plug is. It reacts to increased current and shuts off the drier, for safety. Because often where one is drying there is moisture.

In the end it's safer not to have to concern oneself with such mundane things. There was survival before blow driers.
