Seifer was nothing if not reliable about shooting himself in the foot. Of all the things he could have said he instead chose to be insulting. No one should be surprised by this fact. When here he had the perfect opportunity to try to clear the air of some of his horrific wrong-doing he instead decided the best course of action would be to piss off someone who rightfully hated his guts.

As always, Seifer's judgement is deeply questionable.

Instinctively Seifer jumps back, not quite fast enough to avoid getting a face full of snow. This results in some indignant spluttering while he swipes his eyes clear, crouching lower in a more defensive posture. Fully expecting a real fight to break out at any moment now.

"What's the matter, you a secret admirer or something?" He smirks, just going to keep on digging that grave deeper. One might almost suspect he's doing it on purpose.
