But something compelled him to investigate and eventually touch that feather, which is what got him into this jam in the first place. He honestly couldn't explain what possessed him to do such a thing, and really, that wasn't at the forefront of his mind at this precise moment.

Perhaps they had, and he was only forgetting, distracted as he was by his predicament. "I haven't seen a bird, only its feathers, and yes, I did happen to touch them. I don't believe I'll be making that mistake a second time." Jarvis had never been one to shy away from birds or their feathers, but now he was making a mental note to exercise caution the next time he was confronted with one or both things.
"Any ideas how I might be able to get down? I suppose the answer ought to be simple, but I'm afraid I haven't discovered it as yet."
