Having animals around was unavoidable with my family, I don't think I've ever gone long without any pets. [ The Aeslin mice do not count as pets. Anything species of rehearsed song and dance numbers definitely fall under the 'sapient beings' banner, no matter how tiny and adorable they are. ]
