It had seemed like a good idea at the time to buy something. Surely, anything that would be available in the machine would be better than the next-to-nothing that she had already. Of course, she had some apprehensions -- how would she know if the power would take to her in kind? What would happen if it didn't ... ?
She'd felt a little better about the whole thing when she saw a power that was somewhat familiar to her -- wind manipulation. That had been what Serpico had chosen -- or, to be more exact, what had chosen him -- and it had come in handy many a time. Something like that, which she had now seen in battle many a time, could mean that she would be helpful in a fight. And maybe it would be easier to handle, given that she'd seen him commune with those spirits many a time. All she had to do was try and imitate him, right?
All she had to do was figure out how he went about doing that. Easy enough, right? Sure, they hadn't exactly chosen her, but using what she'd learned from Schierke, perhaps she could petition them to settle for her in the meantime.
And so, she'd made her purchase, somewhat more confident than she had been coming in. Once she had exited the bunker, confident that no one was around, she picked up a stick from the ground to serve as a fetish -- it seemed wrong otherwise to command the spirits. However ... a test of how willing the wind was to listen to her call quickly went awry as she accidentally ripped half of a nearby tree from it roots. It took a quick leap out of the way to avoid the tree crashing down on her, narrowly avoiding her leg being trapped beneath it.
"N-no!" She yelped, looking down at her hands and then back to the tree anxiously. "No, no. Not like that! Please ... please, gently this time ... "
