Dante's phrasing left something to be desired but she knew him, she liked him and, more than all of that, she trusted him. The attraction had always been there but it had never more than a passing thought. Now that she was thinking about it and she couldn't focus on anything else.

Her fingers reached down and gently slipped between his. Kat made sure to move slowly as she rose his hand to her lips and pressed a kiss at the center of his palm. "You're hurt Dante. I don't want to hurt you more." He had several broken ribs and a back full of bruises. What he was suggesting wasn't practical.

Kat moved his hand back to where it was but left her hand intertwined with his.

She didn't think she'd be able to sleep but she could close her eyes, rest, think of Dante and listen to the rain.
