[ While his senses aren't heightened, there are things he still has that he can use to make things---easier. While he can't hear a heartbeat, he can still takes in a lot. Like the way the person approaching has stopped and is standing now. The way they hold themselves off at a slight distance.

When he hears her voice, it makes a lot more sense. He doesn't stop petting the dog-thing, but he does quirk a grin, sadness tinging the edges. ]

I guess I'm kind of like a cat in that way.

[ They hadn't parted on bad terms, but they also hadn't been the best. ]
